Webmaster talks to Derek Kenway

Kenway - "Well I am really over the moon, I've practised hard, little bit of flash backs from last season seem to have returned at the start of this term, but it is good to have brushed them aside"

Webmaster - "Dessie, You seem to have come out of a nightmare these past few days, what are your thoughts?"
Kenway - "Well I am really over the moon, I've practised hard, little bit of flash backs from last season seem to have returned at the start of this term, but it is good to have brushed them aside".
Webmaster - "You must have considered that your place in the first team was in jeopardy".
Kenway - "Yes probably, Paul (Terry) knows how hard I have been training, and seemingly knows I can play a bit, and it has been nice to return his faith in me and get some runs for him".
Webmaster - Your innings on Sunday has been regarded by many as one of the best seen for a long time, what were your thoughts when you reached 100 on Sunday".
Kenway - "It was big relief, for me and my family. They feel it when I am not doing well as much as I do, and it was nice to get some runs for them, and it was great they were here to watch it"
Webmaster - "You spent time in Perth during the winter, what was that like?"
Kenway - "I was working a lot on my game with Paul Terry, a few things about my game, these were not going to happen overnight, hopefully things I've worked on have started to come off, and hopefully I can have a really good season now".
Webmaster - "Do you now feel you have now passed a psychological barrier in your game?"
Kenway - "I think so, when you don't score runs for a considerable time as I did last year, it takes a lot of work to get out of that, and when you get to my age to have to change your game. Hopefully I can now continue to get runs and the team will start winning a few games. It would be nice for some of the guys to get the recognition they deserve"..
Webmaster - One further point.. Towards the end of last season you nearly left Hampshire, are you happy you stayed now?
Kenway - "Definitely, yes, being a local lad, I've got a lot of good friends in and around the club, I'm delighted I stayed, and I hope I can repay the faith the club had in me".
Webmaster - "Derek, many thanks".
