At Kingston, March 12

At Kingston, March 12. West Indies won by 47 runs. Toss: Pakistan. An unbeaten century by Logie, his first in a one-day international, enabled West Indies to put on a daunting 241 for four after Imran, on his return to international cricket, had sent back Haynes with his second ball and dismissed Simmons in his third over. Logie and Richardson added 187 in 36 overs before Richardson played on to Jaffer for 84 from 124 balls. Dropped by Anjum when 68, Logie reached his hundred off 113 balls in the 43rd over. Pakistan suffered an immediate setback when Ambrose, in his first match for West Indies, took wickets with his third and ninth deliveries. Ramiz dragged an attempted hook on to his stumps and Shoaib was bowled. Miandad and Ijaz put on 76 in fourteen overs for the fourth wicket, but Ambrose, recalled for a second spell, had Miandad caught and then yorked Imran. When Ijaz was sixth out in the 34th over, the result was as good as settled.
Man of the Match: A. L. Logie.
