Both sides chose from 15 players, and batted for a day apiece by agreement. Joe Root retired after 62 overs, whereupon England lost two quick wickets to be 183-5 - but the Yorkshire pair of Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid shared a standof 103*. Pakistan A dipped to 32-3 on the second morning, before Fawad Alam and the uncapped Iftikhar Ahmed added 112 in 44 overs. Moeen Ali took three wickets, but Rashid failed to strike in 20 overs, finishing with 0-55.
