Canterbury Provincial A batsman Tim Papps was cited for abuse of an umpire on Saturday and suspended for one match after a hearing by New Zealand Cricket Code of Conduct commissioner Lee Robinson yesterday.

The hearing found that Papps abused an umpire on Saturday after being dismissed lbw in the Canterbury A match against New Zealand Under-19 in the Provincial A competition currently taking place at New Zealand Cricket's grounds at Lincoln University.

The suspension will see Papps sit out the match against Central Districts today and tomorrow.
