Leicestershire 227 for 7 beat Glamorgan 226 for 7 by three wickets at Cardiff
Trevor Ward and Paul Nixon added 125 for the sixth wicket to salvage Leicestershire's hopes of staying in the First Division, as Glamorgan were beaten by three wickets off the final ball of a thrilling match at Sophia Gardens. Ward and Nixon rescued the innings after David Harrison grabbed four wickets in the space of ten runs, as Leicestershire slumped to 52 for 5 in pursuit of 227. Though Ward eventually fell for 104, Glamorgan's fielding went to pieces in the tense final balls. Adrian Dale fluffed a vital run-out in the penultimate over, and Nixon brought the scores level with a four off the next-to-last ball. Glamorgan had earlier built their total of 226 for 7 around Michael Powell's unbeaten 91, after David Brignull's three quick wickets in the middle order.
