Bus Driver is a total body exercise and one of my favourites. If we think about the movements of a cricketer on the field we will recognise leg movements of squatting, pushing off for a quick run or in the field and using our upper body/shoulders to replace the ball from hand to target. The bus driver exercise incorporates a lot of those movements and is therefore a great exercise to develop and maintain functional strength. There are many variations of the bus driver exercise, the one we just demonstrated are one that we use quite a lot as it is an effective total body exercise with a number of larger muscle groups that must work together to create the movement. One can also easily bring an explosive component into it with a powerful leg thrust to execute the movement.

The 25-episode series will focus on the functional exercises that can be done anyplace anywhere; and then move on to functional and core stability exercises that involve lot of movement and power.
