All-time IPL XI : The spinners

ESPNcricinfo staff
Pick your two spinners for our all-time IPL XI and help put together the team with our panel of experts
22

After picking the nominees for the openers, batsmen and allrounders' spots in ESPNcricinfo's all-time IPL XI, it is now time to pick the spinners. After more than 16,000 votes, three West Indians - Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard - made it to the shortlist of six allrounders. The other three spots were filled by Shakib Al Hasan, Shane Watson and Ravindra Jadeja, while Yuvraj Singh narrowly missed out.

There are 12 spinners on our long list, from which you can vote for one or two, depending on what you want the balance of your side to be. Your votes will then be used to create a shortlist from which our jury, which includes four former Test players (Sanjay Bangar, Aakash Chopra, Brad Hogg and Ajit Agarkar) and members of our staff, will pick the final XI. In keeping with the IPL's rules, the number of overseas players in the XI will be restricted to four. The best comments will be part of discussions on the all-time XI during our live shows and video analysis. Keep visiting our all-time IPL XI page for updates on the team selection.

is this some kind of Joke ? Ashwin better than Warne and Muralitharan ? great lol

Ashwin would be very close to Narine (Narine is slightly ahead). As we have to accommodate non indian batsmen (and allrounders) we might as well go with Ashwin. If we select more than 4 foreigners, I would go with Narine. Specially for the value he added to his team for years.

Narine and Rashid are best spin bowlers but when it comes to IPL XI, spin should be Ashwin and Chahal. As IPL XI should have Gayle, ABD or Maxwell for batsman and Russel and Morris or Bravo for all-rounder list. My IPL XI: 1.Gayle 2.Sehwag 3.Kohli (C) 4.Raina 5.ABD/Maxwell 6.Dhoni 7.Russel 8.Morris/Bravo 9.Ashwin/Chahal 10.Bhuvi 11.Bumrah

The stats say Narine, so I'll go with what the stats say. Anything other than the stats is subjective.

Naraine is best so far, ashwin can bowl well only in India

  • Siva_Bala75 on May 1, 2017, 10:40 GMT

In T20s, Narine is clearly better. In ODIs almost equal. In Tests, no comparison.

Sunil Naraine and R. Ashwin. Y.Chahal misses out because the other two have some pretensions to batting as well. Dwaine Beavo would have qualified as an all rounder.

  • canarytabby on May 1, 2017, 8:14 GMT

Narine is the best so far, also a great bonus for the batting.
