Series/Tournaments:
Pakistan tour of Scotland, Ireland and England

Scotland will host Pakistan for two ODIs in Edinburgh in May 2013, shortly before the Champions Trophy in England. Both games - on May 17 and 19 - will be played at the Citylets Grange in Edinburgh. Scotland have played Pakistan on three occasions in the 50-over format, the last one being an abandoned fixture in 2007.
"These fixtures are a fantastic boost for Scottish cricket," captain Gordon Drummond said. "We have the chance to qualify for two global ICC events in 2013, and now we find we also have the opportunity to play two top test nations with Australia also visiting for an ODI in September. These matches are particularly important for the development of the current squad.
"We are all really looking to welcoming the Pakistan team to Scotland once again, and these fixtures will undoubtedly build on the already strong ties between the Pakistani/Scots community. It's a fantastic platform for us to show what we are capable of, as we did with victory against Bangladesh last year- these are the sort of matches that every Scottish squad member will want to be involved in."
"Following the ICC's additional investment in Cricket Scotland through their TAPP [Targeted Assistance and Performance Programme] scheme, we committed to secure further matches against the Full Members," chief executive Roddy Smith said. "These games are vital to continue our progress and measure ourselves against the best in the world, and are integral to the on field improvements desired for by the ICC. We are very grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for their support in making these games happen.''

This is an excellent opportunity for Scotland to show their skills against big boys. Pakistan can test their bench strength in these matches. I would like to appreciate PCB for taking so many initiatives to help/promote cricket. Some of them are helping SL and BD to get thier test statuses, playing with associate nations, starting disabled cricket, starting blind cricket, introducing neutral umpires etc
Good job by Cricket Scotland & also good selection too. All current top minnows (Zim, BD, Ire) shined in their early days in cricket. Zim got international exposure by winning 2 Tests against Unpredictable Pakistan. BD got test status by beating them in 1999 WC & Ire got international attention for the 1st time by beating them in 2007 WC. So this time Scot has chance at their homeland.
Excellent move by the PCB to further strengthen cricket in Non-test playing Nations, I think England should have played Afghanistan a match or two, during their warm-ups for the Tests/ ODI Series India, But it is only the PCB helping the Associates... hope that all the Big Teams give the opportunity for the Younger side to play against them.
@COLJJ man, think about how to avoid the inevitable double whitewash of Pakistan in upcoming tour in SA.Super slow 'Tuk Tuk' Misbah may declare retirement when he will face super fast 'Rockets' from Stein, Morkel & Philander.Scotland should have arranged a triangular ODI tournament including Bangladesh. We are eager to beat Scottish and Pakistanis to put off the word 'minnows' from our body for ever. We missed the chance to play against Pak in Pak because of security unrest in Pak.
Posted by Ind_champs on (January 18, 2013, 13:50 GMT)Good news for scotland. They are given a chance by quality team to see where they are. I think they deserve test status instead of bangladesh.
Posted by MalingaSpeed on (January 16, 2013, 23:24 GMT)Hopefully Scotland will win those games and become the next Ireland and also a full member nation one day. The more teams in Cricket at the highest level the better future of Cricket will have and look fantastic. Get ready for embarrassment Pakistan you guys are no minnows so have everything to lose.
Posted by FRRR on (January 16, 2013, 22:55 GMT)Pakistan has always helped associate teams in the past. PCB should be appreciated for this effort, along with all Pakistani cricketers. Pakistan is also helping China to become a part of cricket.
Posted by SapnerJadukar on (January 16, 2013, 21:35 GMT)@coljj careful mr. When you say something about others as you acting a God and you know the future that BD can't beat pak in 3 decades to come. Take my word, it won't take that long, BD will beat Pak in their next couple of meetings any where in the world. And don't be so proudy, we all can undestand where pak cricket future is heading off. To me i can tell you it doesn't look good!!
Posted by Syed_imran_abbas on (January 16, 2013, 20:22 GMT)Good gesture by PCB. I think other teams should also few matches with associate teams. I am sure some of them are far better than Bangladesh. I hope they give a chance to some new guys.
Posted by armaan_kashif on (January 16, 2013, 18:56 GMT)@M_Rakibul_Islam: have some heart to bear it... BCB has badly exploited the grim conditions of PCB, one should never try to be that much miser in showing determination in commitments as BCB did. All My Sympathy are with you...
