Venkat Sundaram, the Indian board's pitch committee chairman, has been admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai as he started bleeding from the nose on arrival at the airport on Saturday.
According to doctors attending on him, he was suffering from 'epistaxis' and his nose was put "on pack". Though he had been advised rest for the next two days, he was eager to get discharged this evening. Apollo Hospital has a tie-up with the Indian board.
The former Delhi Ranji Trophy player was on his way from Bangalore to Chennai to inspect the pitches (match and practice) at the MA Chidambaram stadium, the venue for the day-night third one-dayer between India and South Africa on November 22.
