David Brown, the Gloucestershire allrounder, is being released by the club a year before his contract expires after struggling for many first-team opportunities.
The highlight of Brown's four years at Gloucestershire came during the 2006 C&G Trophy when he hit 63 off 26 balls against Surrey. During the recent season he made three Friends Provident Trophy and four Twenty20 Cup appearances and five Pro40 appearances.
"David Brown as an all rounder at the club has had few opportunities this season and, looking forward, we both agreed that it would be in everyone's best interest if he moved on," John Bracewell, the director of cricket, said. "We would all like to express our gratitude to David and wish him every success in the future."
Brown added that he hopes to continue his professional career. "I have really enjoyed my years at Gloucestershire and would like to thank the players and members for all their support over the whole period," he said. "I plan to continue my career and look forward to playing against my former colleagues soon."
