Gloucestershire 250 (Weston 45, Adshead 45, Sidebottom 4-65) and 192 (Pearson 68, Chandana 49*, Sidebottom 4-35) lost to Nottinghamshire 469 (Hussey 98 Fleming 92, Hardinges 4-115) by an innings and 27 runs
Scorecard
Nottinghamshire steamrollered Gloucestershire by an innings and 27 runs at Bristol, as their batting subsided for the second time in the match. Ryan Sidebottom and Mark Ealham were again the main wicket-takers. Sidebottom took four in the innings - to add to his four in the first innings - and Mark Ealham took three. Gloucestershire were already in deep trouble when they started the day on 3 for 2, and were soon in tatters at 36 for 5. The lower order battled to stop a complete collapse and made Nottinghamshire work hard to finish off the match. James Pearson, in the side due to Craig Spearman's absence, hit a career-best 68 and added 77 with Upul Chandana. Ealham eventually had Pearson caught by Anurag Singh after facing 123 balls and the end came swiftly. Chandana hit some defiant blows and was left stranded on 49 when Steve Kirby was dismissed by Greg Smith to complete a tough match for the home side, who are now starting to look out of their depth in Division One.
Surrey 324 and 11 for 0 need 395 more runs to beat Kent 262 (Key 112, Hall 61, Bicknell 4-31) and 467 for 4 dec (Key 189, van Jaarsveld 168)
Scorecard
Kent built a commanding lead at Tunbridge Wells as Robert Key continued his love affair with the ground. Key, keen to keep the pressure on the England selectors, dominated the day with 189 - following his first innings 112 - as Surrey's attack was made to toil. Last season, against Lancashire, Key hit 180 at this ground and must wish he could roll up the pitch and take it with him. Martin van Jaarsveld also gave the crowd an innings to savour, as he bounced back from three consecutive Championship ducks. He stroked 168, his highest score for Kent, with 21 fours, adding 323 for the third wicket with Key. The Surrey bowlers were powerless to stop the onslaught and had to wait for the batsmen to make a mistake. Finally, Key was stumped off Nayan Doshi and van Jaarsveld was bowled by James Benning a short time later, but Justin Kemp and Matthew Walker added a rapid 60, to set up a declaration with seven overs left. Though the Surrey openers reached the close unscathed a tough final day awaits.
Middlesex 401 and 222 for 8 (Weekes 71, Dalrymple 65, Lewry 5-48) lead Sussex 332 (Adams 72, Goodwin 67, Mushtaq 57, Pathan 4-81) by 291 runs

Sussex TV highlights
This match at Hove continues to be a real ding-dong battle but Middlesex hold the advantage going into the final day. An absorbing battle unfolded as Middlesex tried to build a fourth innings target but were pegged back by a determined Sussex performance. It began as they extended their first innings during the morning session. Mushtaq Ahmed struck a typically entertaining half-century as the last three wickets added 99 runs. At 233 for 7 Middlesex would have expected a larger lead than 69, but Mushtaq ensured Sussex were still in the game. Irfan Pathan was rewarded for a wholehearted Championship debut with 4 for 81. Middlesex struggled to build on their advantage as they slumped to 72 for 5. Jason Lewry took three early wickets, including Scott Styris for two, and suddenly Sussex were on top. But Jamie Dalrymple and Paul Weekes restored order with a stand of 140, and although Lewry ended the day with five wickets, Middlesex's lead is approaching 300 - always a tough final day chase.
