PAKISTAN v NEW ZEALAND 1990-91

At Lahore, November 2

15-Apr-1992
At Lahore, November 2. Pakistan won by 19 runs. Toss: New Zealand. Put in, Pakistan made a good start with Saeed Anwar and Shoaib Mohammad putting on 59 before Shoaib went in the fourteenth over. Saeed was soon to his fifty, from just 59 balls, and he continued on his authoritative way to reach his century in 114 balls, including eleven fours. New Zealand, chasing nearly 5 runs an over, were 100 for three in the 25th over, with Greatbatch and Patel keeping them in touch with the run-rate. But the introduction of Salim Malik changed the course of the match. He broke the stand by bowling Patel, and when Greatbatch was splendidly caught by Saeed off Akram Raza, the off-spinner, only Smith, cutting and driving with purpose, could keep the runs coming.
Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar.
