Pakistan v West Indies 1999-2000

At Toronto, September 16

15-Apr-2001
At Toronto, September 16. Pakistan won by 15 runs. Toss: Pakistan.
This was the 1,500th one-day international: Walsh had played in 200 of them and Wasim Akram in 276. Seizing the advantage after they were both given lives, Saeed Anwar and Wajahatullah Wasti opened with 131 in 29 overs, a Pakistani first-wicket record against West Indies. The middle order flagged, but Azhar Mahmood lashed out at the end with 25 from 13 balls. Dillon, so miserly four days earlier, conceded 19 - including a six and three fours - in his final over, and 65 in all. Even so, West Indies might have won had they not given away 33 in wides and no-balls. Campbell, missed on one, hit his third half-century in four innings, but Powell's promotion to No. 3 was not a success. Although managing a six and a four, he was only 12 when he lost his middle stump. Adams batted valiantly for 35 in 33 balls, but the last over, from Saqlain Mushtaq, yielded just one run while Moin Khan made his 50th one-day stumping.
Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar.
