Western Australia sealed a comfortable 106-run win against South Australia in their Pura Cup match at Adelaide. Requiring 351 for victory, South Australia were bowled out for 244 in the final session of the third day. Greg Blewett scored a fighting 80 to keep his team in the hunt, but his dismissal on the stroke of tea sparked off a collapse, as the last five wickets went down for 43. Brad Hogg was the star for WA, taking three crucial wickets and effecting a run-out. His performance in the field today, coupled with his superb display with the bat - he scored 109 and 61 - won him the Man-of-the-Match award.
Starting at 2 for 27, South Australia soon slumped to 4 for 60, before Blewett and Callum Ferguson (48) led the revival with an 88-run stand. Hogg ended that partnership, taking a low return catch when Ferguson drove one back at him with plenty of power. Then, in the last over before tea, he trapped Blewett in front after he had made a patient 80, off 197 balls.
After the interval, South Australia's resistance crumbled. Nathan Adcock contributed 37, before Hogg made a direct hit from cover to run him out. Shaun Tait was dismissed soon after, and South Australia had crumbled to their fourth straight Pura Cup defeat.
