Two changes to Redbacks squad for first ING Cup

The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) today announced a 12-man West End Redbacks squad to take on the Western Warriors in the first ING Cup game of season 2003-04 on October 24 at the WACA Ground.

The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) today announced a 12-man West End Redbacks squad to take on the Western Warriors in the first ING Cup game of season 2003-04 on October 24 at the WACA Ground.
The squad sees two changes from the Pura Cup side which will travel to Perth on Friday to take on the Western Warriors from October 19 to 22.
Coming into the side is Redbacks batting all-rounder Ben Johnson, who top-scored for Adelaide on the weekend with a quickfire 72 in the A-Grade West End Cup one-day game against Sturt.
Joining Johnson in the one-day side is 2003-04 rookie Callum Ferguson, who has earned his spot with hard work during the pre-season, coupled with an impressive 100 in the Cricket Australia Cup match last week against Victoria.
West End Redbacks coach Wayne Phillips said he is looking for vastly improved one-day performances this season.
"Last season's effort in the ING Cup competition was nothing short of unacceptable and I'll be looking for improvements across the board in this form of the game."
"These 12 men have the talent needed to bring success to South Australia, but we will continue to make changes as required to get the right balance in the team."
"Ben and Callum are two highly skilled players, who are welcome additions. Both are talented one-day players, not only with the bat but both are quick in the field and Ben's medium-pace bowling adds another dimension to the side."
