West Indies v England 1997-1998

West Indies finally passed England with one wicket and one ball to spare

15-Apr-1999
West Indies finally passed England with one wicket and one ball to spare. Again, they had charged after their target, scoring far more quickly than England but losing more wickets too. Adam Hollioake persisted with Headley for seven unchanged overs which went for 68 runs. The heart of the innings came from Williams and Hooper, who put on 132 for the fourth wicket, but five wickets then fell for 25. Ambrose, playing his 150th one-day international, helped take West Indies to 265, two short of victory, and Jacobs finished the job. For England, inserted on a damp pitch, Knight fell just short of a second successive hundred - but had the consolation of his second match award. He shared half-century stands with Ben Hollioake and Ramprakash, who replaced the injured Thorpe, and the later order knocked 96 off the last ten overs.
Man of the Match: N. V. Knight.
