Easy wins for CCC and Jamaica

A round-up of the action from the second day of play at the Regional Super50 2011-12

Combined Campuses and Colleges made a winning start to their campaign made a winning start to their Regional Super50 campaign, beating Trinidad & Tobago by five wickets at the Everest Cricket Ground in Guyana. CCC's bowlers paved the path to victory after they won the toss and inserted T&T. Kavesh Kantasingh and Kyle Mayers struck early blows to reduce T&T to 43 for 4, and the batting team contributed to their downfall with three run outs.
Jason Mohammad scored a stubborn 77 to haul T&T out of rough waters, but a final score of 173 for 9 was never going to be enough. The CCC openers Romel Currency and Miles Bascombe added 76 for the opening wicket, before Floyd Reifer and Kyle Mayers took their side home for the loss of five wickets.
Krishmar Santokie's three-wicket haul and a solid support act from the rest of Jamaica attack helped them crush Leeward Islands by seven wickets at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Santokie struck two early blows to remove Austin Richards and Chesney Hughes, before the spinners - Nikita Miller and Odean Brown - dismantled the middle order. Justin Athanaze was the only batsman to go past 20, but it wasn't enough to take his side to triple-figures.
All eyes were, expectedly, on Chris Gayle as Jamaica began their chase but he was dismissed for a quick 22. The rest of the top order went about their business in a hurry to finish the game in only 15.4 overs.
