Inspired by fellow Victorian and Australian Shane Warne as a child, Wareham also became a World Cup hero for her country in the T20 format. Having established herself as Australia's first-choice legspinner she starred in the 2018 T20 World Cup triumph in the Caribbean, taking 2 for 11 in the final against England and producing a vital direct hit run out.

Two years later in Australia's T20 World Cup triumph on home soil, she played a pivotal part in the pool stage taking 3 for 17 against New Zealand to ensure Australia qualified for the semi-final.

Wareham made her Test debut in 2021 against India but injury would keep her out of international cricket for 18 months when she suffered a ruptured ACL fielding in the WBBL. Such was the faith in her of the selectors that she was recalled for the 2023 T20 World Cup in South Africa on the back of little cricket, and her wider standing in the game signified by a WPL deal with Gujarat Giants.

Wareham responded with 3 for 20 in her comeback match against Bangladesh and has been a regular in T20Is and ODIs since, which included a one-day best of 3 for 23 against India in Mumbai. Her batting has developed, too, and she was Melbourne Renegades third-highest run-scorer in the 2023-24 WBBL then made a maiden international fifty in a T20I against Bangladesh.

Wareham grew up in Mortlake, two-and-half hours west of Melbourne, and learned the game playing with her brother Jordan in the backyard. She developed playing men's cricket in the district before moving into Victoria's elite pathway system.
