0.3 to Abdullah Shafique, Rabada spins around for an lbw appeal. Not given out on the field. Rabada and SA challenge the on-field not-out decision from umpire Tucker. Rabada thinks he has his man. Nice and full once again, angling in and swinging in to beat the inside edge this time and thump the pad. UltraEdge confirms a gap between bat and ball. Struck on the back pad and the tracker returns three reds. Not much bounce in this surface, so it was always threatening the stumps. Successful review. Rabada strikes in his first over. 2/1

25.417823.03963100
47.3 to Shan Masood, Another lbw appeal, this one looks more adjacent and yes the finger goes up. Masood has reviewed this on-field not decision. Non-turner from Subrayen. Slides in as opposed to turning away, beats the inside edge and thumps the front pad below the knee-roll. The length was nice and full. UltraEdge confirms there's no bat involved here. Ball-tracking indicates it would crash into leg stump. Subrayen provides SA with the breakthrough. 163/2
110.4 to Agha Salman, holes out to wide long on, and Salman gets dismissed for the first time in the nineties in Test cricket! Pakistan bowled out for 378, despite being 313-5 at the start of day two! Hung up on a length wide outside off, asking Salman to come down the track and fetch it. He tries his best and gets a decent chunk of it too, but because he was dragging it across the line, he does not muster enough power. Muthusamy settles himself right on the fence and takes the catch in front of his face to add the punctuation mark to this Pakistan innings!. 378/10
33510113.061377200
59.2 to Babar Azam, massive lbw shout, but the umpire says no! Fizzed through full just outside off. Babar presses forward and plays slightly outside the line. The ball pins him on the pad but the question here is whether he got a scratch to it before. SA have a chat, and decide to review. Oh, well well. The bat has hit the front pad and not the ball. Babar may be in trouble here. Was it turning too much? Ball Tracking coming up now and...it reckons the ball would have thundered into the top of leg stump. Exceptional review by South Africa, and Babar has to trudge off!. 199/5
32611763.6513210400
56.5 to Imam-ul-Haq, No hundred for Imam! He falls seven short of the landmark. Caught by de Zorzi at short leg. Smart catch with both hands. Good length, turns in and bounces, discomfits Imam, who ends up poking a catch to the man under the helmet. 199/3
56.6 to Saud Shakeel, caught and bowled. Far too soon into the little flick into the leg side. He is eager to get to the pitch of the ball, but he can't. So he tries to mitigate that by playing with the turn, except there isn't all that much on offer on a day one pitch. So he pops a tame little leading edge back to the bowler.. 199/4
101.3 to Mohammad Rizwan, gone!! Extra bounce, and turn, for Muthusamy, and he breaks a record stand. Well taken by Verreynne as well. The ball was angled in, and landed on a full length on off. I think it landed bang on the seam. But nevertheless, it turned away sharply, and finished around sixth stump. Rizwan went driving away from his body - his front leg seemed to be on middle - and got an outside edge. Verreynne moved his hands in time to his right, and grabbed the ball high. 362/6
101.5 to Noman Ali, bowled him!! The ball hits off stump, as it's a lovely delivery from Muthusamy. He gives the ball some air, and gets it to dip at the batter. The flight invites Noman, himself a left-arm spinner, forward, as he looks to defend. The ball landed on a length, and turned in, though, going past the outside edge to strike the off stump. 362/7
101.6 to Sajid Khan, taken at slip!! Muthusamy has three wickets in the over, and gets his five-for. He's on a hat-trick for the second time in this innings, and it's unravelling for Pakistan. Everything seems to be going his way - even the South Africa fielders are holding on this morning. This time Muthusamy angled the ball into the right-hander, and bowled full on off. I thought the ball just about straightened and hence took the outside edge as Sajid looked to defend. Markram, at slip, went low and bagged the ball to his right. 362/8
109.3 to Shaheen Shah Afridi, oh dear - that is an agricultural hack, and Shaheen falls! Shaheen will not want to watch replays of this. Muthusamy drags the length back outside off, perhaps sensing the charge. Shaheen hares down the track anyway and swings like a rusty gate. Misses it completely and the ball, spinning sluggishly, rattles into the stumps. Pakistan nine down!. 378/9

11.5 to AK Markram, almost a carbon copy from two balls ago, and Markram is shaking his head yet again! But this time, he does bring himself to trudging off. Noman has his man! Looped up on a fullish length on middle stump. Drifts in and then extracts vicious purchase off the surface. Markram, to be fair to him, does not go following it and dangles his bat down the line he felt the ball would turn towards. The ball, though, spins just a tad bit more and kisses the outside edge. Smart grab by Rizwan high to his right, and SA lose their skipper!. 45/1
24.5 to PWA Mulder, got him!! Mulder walks - literally. He goes for an expansive drive, but is beaten by the lack of pace, and the loop. Noman tossed it up and went slow - just like the previous ball - as this one dipped around fourth or fifth stump. Mulder went driving with an angled bat - it looked horizontal more than full-faced - and with the ball turning away, he ended up giving Rizwan another catch. 80/2
54.6 to T Stubbs, loud and confident appeal for caught behind by Rizwan... and given out!! But wait, Stubbs has reviewed rather immediately. Noman got this full delivery to angle in, and dip on a middle-stump line even as he bowled slowly yet again. Stubbs went defending on middle, but the ball turned away to go past the outside edge as he was beaten. And, and... there's a clear spike as ball passes the bat. So Stubbs is gone, and with him, a review. 192/4
60.3 to K Verreynne, loud and confident appeal for lbw, and given after a while!! But, but... Verreynne reviews. What a busy day the third umpire is having!! Fullish ball from Noman, who gets it to dip on middle and leg. It straightens after pitching, and strikes Verreynne on the front pad as he looks to sweep but misses. There doesn't look to be bat involved, but we'll see. Yup, the ball passes below his bat, and there's no bat involved. Ball tracking shows the ball would have hit the middle of middle stump!! South Africa lose another review. 200/6
78.1 to T de Zorzi, five-for for Noman! And it's the set batter who is gone. Full outside off. De Zorzi came down the ground to be aggressive but ended up getting too close to the ball. That meant the bat swing wasn't perfect, and Shaheen at long on takes a tumble on the boundary line to take the catch. 256/8
82.2 to P Subrayen, that's six for Noman! Beautiful delivery, full on off. Bit of turn away from the right hander. Subrayen fends with soft hands but it still takes the edge. First slip takes a low catch. The new ball helping Noman just as much the old ball was. 268/9
3329832.9614210110
55.6 to D Brevis, chipped to midwicket first ball!! The roar from Sajid makes it known what it means to him. Sajid bowled it on a length around off, and got the ball to jump and turn in. That pushed Brevis back in the crease, and he ended up fending at it. The ball went spooning to Masood in what turned out to be a soft dismissal. South Africa are losing their way, and Pakistan will smell a respectable lead. 193/5
71.4 to S Muthusamy, lapped up at first slip! Slower through the air. Full outside off. Muthusamy fends with soft hands but it takes the edge, and Agha takes a low catch at first slip.. 228/7
83.6 to K Rabada, top of off stump! Length ball around off. Turning away slightly with Rabada looking to defend. Past the outside edge and the ripper clips off stump. Pakistan take a 109-run lead. 269/10
421403.50203001
722113.00292000
50.1 to RD Rickelton, sharp grab at first slip, and Salman answers Pakistan's prayers! Zipped through on a full length on middle and off. Rickelton thinks he can play with the angle and clip this through mid wicket. The ball, though, straightens just enough, and flies off the leading edge. Babar lunges forward and seems to pick it up inches off the turf with just his right hand. The third umpire takes a look at it but it is a very quick check. Clean catch and Rickelton, for the first time in his Test career, has been dismissed between 50 and 100!. 174/3

30.5 to Babar Azam, oh dear - sharp nip-backer, Babar trapped on the back leg, and the finger goes up! Babar, though, wants to take another look! Talk about a commentator's curse and then some. This is on a back of a length outside off. Decks back in off the seam and Babar, caught on the crease, does not account for it. Gets cut in half and rapped on the back leg. Was it too high? Was the impact in line? Direction seemed okay. Looks like the ball has flicked the flap of the front pad before pinging the back leg. No bat involved either. All eyes on Ball Tracking. And it reckons the ball would have smashed into the top of middle stump. Umpire's Call on Impact but since the original decision was out, Babar has to walk!. 119/4
14.135143.60566000
1.4 to Imam-ul-Haq, stumped! Imam uses his feet against the spinner for his first ball, and he is gone for a duck! Absolutely stranded as the ball turns away from him and he can't push the ball to the off side as planned.. 2/1
9.2 to Shan Masood, given out lbw! But Masood reviews. This is a length ball that doesn't turn. Angles in and Masood is caught in his crease trying to cut. Ball hits him on the pad and the umpire swiftly raises the finger. TV replay shows the ball would've clipped leg stump so Pakistan keep their review but Masood has go to. Harmer with his second, this time via the arm ball. 33/2
40.1 to Mohammad Rizwan, cleans him up with a corker! This is sumptuous bowling. Flighted up on a length just outside off and this hangs in the air for an eternity. Rizwan wanders down the track, trying to work to leg but is nowhere close to the pitch of the ball. It rips back in sharply, breezes through the gap between bat and pad, and then thunders into the stumps. Harmer is pumped, and that could be a big moment in the game!. 150/6
46.1 to Sajid Khan, Sajid tries his luck at a big shot, and Pakistan have been rolled over for 167, despite being 150-4 at one stage! Harmer dangles the carrot outside off and Sajid bites. He rushes down the track, looking to tonk this into tomorrow but loses his shape completely. An ungainly mow across the line in the end and the ball skews up towards deep mid on. Brevis tracks it all the way and then gobbles up the chance over his right shoulder. SA will have to chase down 277 to win this game and take a 1-0 lead!. 167/10
1715753.35726100
18.6 to Abdullah Shafique, sharp return catch, and Shafique bites the dust! Not a shot that Shafique will want to revisit, and he is hanging around, arguing that this could be a bump ball. Not entirely sure if there is any merit in that, however. This is floated up full outside off. Shafique shimmies down and tries to smash it back past the bowler. Does not get under it enough, though, nor does he keep it down. Arrows it back at thigh-height towards Muthusamy, who snares the chance to his left. The bat hit the ground as Shafique swung at it and that may have meddled with his timing. But either way, he has to go now, and SA have a window of opportunity!. 64/3
39.4 to Saud Shakeel, full on leg. Gets down on one knee and goes for a big shot. The sound off the bat looked good, but no, it doesn't have the distance. Deep square leg, Stubbs, gets under it on the boundary line and that's a wicket just moments before tea! Shakeel wanted to go over midwicket, but ended up playing it squarer. On that note, it is tea. 150/5
41.3 to Shaheen Shah Afridi, scooped up for backward point, and Shaheen is outta here! Perhaps what he was sent out to do, but probably not the shot the team management would have had in mind when sending him up the order. Looks to play an uncharacteristic reverse sweep off a fullish ball from the rough and scuffs it completely. Easy catch for Mulder, and Shaheen walks back for a duck!. 151/7
45.1 to Agha Salman, bowled'im round his legs, and Muthusamy has ten in the Test! What a moment for the 31-year-old, and Pakistan are now eight down! Tossed up on a length just outside leg. Salman plants his front foot outside off and looks to sweep it away. Cuts himself off in the end because of his rather early decision to go so far across and he cannot access the ball. It squirms under his swiping blade and then thuds into the stumps. Muthusamy is all smiles. He becomes only the fourth South African spinner to bag a ten-wicket haul in a Test, and this is a game he will remember for a long, long time!. 166/8
45.6 to Noman Ali, another lbw shout, and the finger goes up yet again! And we have another review! This could be a wasted one, though. Speared in full, perhaps pitching just in line with leg stump. Noman, like Shaheen before him, looks for the reverse and makes a complete hash of it. Gets thumped on the front pad and with the ball straightening, this could be curtains for him. No bat involved, as expected. Pitching is on middle stump, and the ball is cannoning into middle stump two-thirds of the way up. Muthusamy has eleven in the game (finally), and he also has back-to-back five-wicket hauls!. 167/9

5.5 to AK Markram, one down, nine to go! Markram with a wild hoick across the line and his leg stump is flattened! Full ball on middle and sliding in. Markram clears the front leg and looks for an expansive shot, and that brings about his demise for this innings. Pakistan rejoice as Markram plays an absolutely shocking shot. 13/1
7.1 to PWA Mulder, another one for Noman! Mulder goes for a duck. Length ball on middle. Mulder backs away to play a cut. But then he offers no shot, and all he does is get an edge to Agha lurking at first slip. Sharp catch since the wicketkeeper's gloves would've left him with a blind spot for a bit. 18/2
25.2 to T Stubbs, Tries the reverse sweep and has to depart! Tossed up length ball pitching around the sixth stump line, Stubbs premeditates the reverse sweep stroke and gets beaten by the flight and turn. Massive appeal, and the umpire raises his finger! Stubbs immediately opts to review. Was there a faint edge? Ultra Edge confirms the worst for South Africa: there is a clear spike as the ball passes the bat. The decision stands, meaning South Africa loses another crucial wicket early in the session, and, critically, they have now lost their second review as well.. 55/4
41.3 to D Brevis, cleans him up with a pearler! An absolute jaffa, and Brevis cannot believe what has happened! Noman is pumped beyond measure, and this could be an enormous moment in the game! This is fizzed through on a back of a length on middle and leg. Quite slow too but short enough to prevent Brevis from lunging at it and getting to the pitch of the ball. It grips and rags away sharply. Brevis, prodding at it in hope, having been caught on the crease, watches in horror as the ball snakes past and thunders into the stumps. A stunning counter-attacking knock by the youngster but now, someone else will have to take South Africa past the finish line. And Noman, all of 39 years old, has ten in the game!. 128/5
1413822.71583000
46.2 to RD Rickelton, sharp turn, and an even sharper take at first slip! Rickelton is gone, and have South Africa's hopes gone with that too?! This is stunning bowling. Drifting into leg stump on a fullish length and then straightening extravagantly. Rickelton looks to play to leg but the prodigious turn leads to his undoing. The ball floats off the leading edge and Salman lunges forward to pick up the catch inches off the turf. Big, big moment in the game and Sajid, who has often flourished in the second innings, has left his mark on this one too!. 134/6
50.4 to S Muthusamy, Sajid pleads and pleads and pleads, and Rod Tucker says yes! Muthusamy has taken this upstairs, though! Fired in on a length on off stump. Seems to come in with the arm and Muthusamy, shaping to play the fine sweep, makes a mess of it. Seems to miss the ball and then gets hit on the body. Height could be an issue, and Muthusamy is perhaps chancing his luck on that assumption. Okay. Looks like height might not be a problem because that has struck him low on the front pad before bouncing up onto his stomach. This could be curtains. No bat involved. Ball Tracking comes up and...shows the ball to be missing off stump. And leg stump. Because it is pummeling into the middle of middle stump. Muthusamy has to go, and he takes a review along with him!. 144/7
41701.75170000
8.513343.73395001
22.3 to T de Zorzi, Massive appeal and the finger goes up. Shaheen Shah is pumped up! It was a back of a length ball with plenty of inwards movement, de Zorzi attempts to play off the front foot, gets beaten by the seam movement and pace, goes past the inside edge and thuds the back pad in front of the stumps. Reviews the decision, but that looks plumb to me. Ultra Edge confirmed no bat is involved, all three reds, and hitting the middle stump. That's a massive breakthrough for Pakistan, and the momentum has decisively shifted! You can see the smiles and the energy in the Pakistan dugout as the players celebrate once again.. 51/3
58.1 to K Verreynne, Shaheen is off on a celebratory run and he does not even look back at the umpire! He knows it is plumb with a capital P, and Verreynne has to trudge off! Back of a length, pitching just outside off and then decking back in sharply. The ball almost rolls along the ground and Verreynne, expecting something somewhere near his stomach region, gets pinned near the shin on the front pad. That is as out as they come and Verreynne does not even bother with the review. Although that is helped by SA having none left. Pakistan just two wickets away now!. 173/8
60.3 to P Subrayen, oh my days - what a ball that is! Reminiscent of Wasim Akram in his pomp and in his heyday, and Pakistan are just one more wicket away! Shiny side on the outside, meaning this was always going to swerve away. The problem for Subrayen, though, is that this threatens to angle into middle stump before doing all sorts. Subrayen's bat ends up in a different postcode and off stump is pegged back. Shaheen with his customary celebration, and SA on the brink!. 183/9
60.5 to K Rabada, leg stump flattened, and that is all over, Red Rover! Shaheen has four, and Pakistan, in their first game of the WTC cycle, take down the world champions, and take them down in some style! This is just irresistible. Batters in the top order might have struggled keeping this out, let alone someone walking out to bat at number eleven. Starting on a length on off and curving back in viciously. Rabada does not get to the pitch with his front foot and wafts at it loosely. The ball whistles past the inside edge and he hears the rattling of his stumps soon after. A fitting end to what become a dominant performance eventually!. 183/10
