Green helps Western Australia to safety, then gets into bowling work

The allrounder overcame a blow to the forearm and spent a lengthy stint in the middle then Cooper Connolly ensured against late alarms

South Australia 215 (Lehmann 96) and 394 for 8 dec (McSweeney 103, Hunt 84) drew with Western Australia 307 (Bancroft 122, Doggett 6-48) and 195 for 6 (Bancroft 58*, Connolly 51*, Scott 3-26)
Cameron Green has been "hitting intensity" in training as he ramps up his bowling loads, but it remains unclear whether he will have an overs-restriction in his expected return to bowling in the next Sheffield Shield round.
Green played as a specialist batter in Western Australia's drawn Shield match against South Australia at the WACA. Batting in his preferred No. 4 spot, Green gave WA some hope of chasing down the 303-run target before he unluckily fell for 41 after a dubious caught behind decision.

Australia 126 for 6 (Marsh 46, Varun 2-23) beat India 125 (Abhishek 68, Hazlewood 3-13) by four wickets
A spellbinding performance from Josh Hazlewood silenced an MCG crowd of 82,438 that was dominated by India supporters and handed Australia a 1-0 series lead.
Everything about the atmosphere felt like an away game for the home side except for the quintessential fast-paced Australian pitch, and Hazlewood thrived, taking 3 for 13 from four overs to bundle India out for 125 despite a stunning lone hand from Abhishek Sharma, who made 68 off 37 balls to give Australia something to chase.

South Africa A 299 for 9 (Jordan Hermann 71, Hamza 66, Ruben Hermann 54, Kotian 4-77) vs India A
Rishabh Pant spent an entire day on the field, seemingly untroubled by his foot, as he returned to action after more than two months in rehab for a foot injury sustained while batting during the fourth Test in Manchester.
N Jagadeesan wasn't as lucky, after B Sai Sudharsan's spikes got stuck into his right hand during a training session on match eve. The selectors were forced to summon Ishan Kishan as cover. Jagadeesan's injury meant an opportunity at the top of the order for Ayush Mhatre, the Mumbai opener, who was originally set to play only the second four-day fixture.

Tasmania 232 and 28 for 1 need 327 more runs to win against Victoria 256 & 330 for 5 dec (Kellaway 147, Harris 100*, Meredith 3-87)
Jake Weatherald's last bid to push for the opening Ashes Test was undone by a brilliant Fergus O'Neill delivery after centuries to Campbell Kellaway and Marcus Harris put Victoria in the driving seat at stumps on day three against Tasmania at the Junction Oval.
For the second time in the match, Tasmania's openers were forced to negotiate a short new-ball burst before the close after a long day in the field. For the second time in the match, Weatherald was undone by a superb delivery with O'Neill pitching on middle and nipping away to catch Weatherald's outside edge. Will Sutherland held the low juggling chance at first slip.

India 341 for 5 (Rodrigues 127*, Harmanpreet 89, Garth 2-46) beat Australia 338 (Litchfield 119, Perry 77, Gardner 63, Charani 2-49, Deepti 2-73) by five wickets
It was a movie India had seen many times. A tricky run chase. Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur with a rescue act. That raising the prospect of an upset win in a knockout game against Australia. Only, this time at the Women's World Cup 2025, the ending was different.
Rodrigues ran towards Amanjot Kaur. She lifted her up, and then bent down and lay next to the pitch. She was soon swarmed by her team-mates who came charging in, perhaps faster than the speed of light, as India made only their third World Cup final, their first since 2017.
