Nissanka helps Sri Lanka edge sloppy Hong Kong in a thriller

Hong Kong gave Sri Lanka a scare, but a slew of dropped chances meant they could not pull off the upset

Sri Lanka 153 for 6 (Nissanka 68, Hasaranga 20*, Murtaza 2-37) beat Hong Kong 149 for 4 (Nizakat 52*, Rath 48, Chameera 2-29) by four wickets
A Pathum Nissanka fifty at the top of the innings, and a Wanindu Hasaranga cameo at the end saw Sri Lanka survive a scare from the group's lowest-ranked team, Hong Kong.
In two disciplines, Hong Kong were valiant. Anshy Rath batted with determination to score 48, and Nizakat Khan with verve to make 52 not out off 38, the pair driving Hong Kong to a total of 149 for 4.

Central Zone 511 (Rathod 194, Patidar 101, Jain 69, Gurjapneet 4-124) and 66 for 4 (Wadkar 19*, Rathod 13*, Gurjapneet 2-21) beat South Zone 149 (Tanmay 31, Jain 5-49, Kartikeya 4-53) and 426 (Ankit 99, Siddarth 84*, Kartikeya 4-110, Jain 3-130) by six wickets
Yash Rathod's career-best 194, Saransh Jain's 69 with the bat in the first innings and a match haul of 8 for 179 with the ball, and Rajat Patidar's quick 101 headlined Central Zone's first Duleep Trophy win in close to 11 years. Chasing just 65 on the final morning, Central lost four wickets, but Akshay Wadkar and Rathod held their composure to give their side a six-wicket win over South Zone at BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
There was plenty of grip and bounce for left-arm spinner Ankit Sharma on the fifth morning, while fast bowler Gurjapneet Singh also found enough movement to keep South interested. They both picked up two wickets, but the 65-run target was never going to be daunting.

India 131 for 3 (Suryakumar 47*, Abhishek 31, Tilak 31, Ayub 3-35) beat Pakistan 127 for 9 (Farhan 40, Afridi 33*, Kuldeep 3-18, Axar 2-18, Bumrah 2-28) by seven wickets
India extended their dominance over Pakistan to 11-3 in T20Is with a comfortable seven-wicket win in the first of three possible meetings at the Asia Cup. It was one-way traffic right from the time Hardik Pandya removed Saim Ayub with the first legal ball of the match.
India's superior bowling attack proved to be too much for Pakistan, who were frequently forced to play low-percentage shots to be able to score at a respectable pace. Still, 63 balls went unscored off, the scoring rate went past a run a ball only in the last over of the innings, and 128 was hardly a target for a power-packed India line-up.

England vs South Africa - Match abandoned
England and South Africa were left frustrated by the weather as a miserable afternoon of rain in Nottingham washed out their T20I series decider at Trent Bridge. Harry Brook and Aiden Markram both posed with the trophy after an anticlimactic finale, with the series drawn 1-1 after South Africa's win in a shortened game in Cardiff and England's drubbing in Manchester.
The captains briefly headed to the middle for a delayed toss, but the rain became heavier as soon as they walked out. It relented for a short while but returned with a vengeance, and the umpires called the game off at 4.18pm. "It's a shame that the weather has ruined it again," Brook said.

South Zone 149 and 426 (Ankit 99, Siddarth 84*, Kartikeya 4-110, Jain 3-130) lead Central Zone 511 (Rathod 194, Patidar 101, Gurjapneet 4-124, Ankit 4-180) by 64 runs
For close to two sessions, Ankit Sharma and C Andre Siddarth kept Central Zone waiting on the fourth day of the 2025-26 Duleep Trophy final. But a frenetic last half an hour, where South Zone lost their last four wickets for 12 runs, which included Ankit falling on 99, saw them get bowled out for 426, leaving Central Zone 65 to chase on the final day.
Having reduced South Zone to 222 for 6 before lunch, leading by 140 runs, Central Zone were in pole position to inflict an innings defeat. But a stunning rearguard action from Ankit and Siddarth, where they added 192 runs for the seventh wicket, ensured the final went into day five.
