Tasmania 209 & 177 for 9 (Jewell 41, Manenti 3-26) lead South Australia 177 (Carey 59, Webster 5-50, Bird 3-47) by 209 runs
Beau Webster has taken his first five-wicket haul of the summer for Tasmania - but it came on a day when his chances of keeping his Test spot took a hit.
Webster claimed 5 for 50 for the Tigers in Hobart on Tuesday to help dismiss South Australia for 177 in reply to the hosts' first-innings 209. Tasmania then collapsed by losing nine wickets in an extended last session to reach stumps on day two at 177 for 9, with Henry Thornton taking two wickets in the final over to keep the hosts' lead to 209 with a tight finish looming.

Steven Smith played a lone hand for New South Wales as the home side endured a forgettable day against Victoria at the SCG.
Smith batted on a different level to his team-mates as NSW were bundled out for 128 with Sam Elliott, who represented Australia A during the winter, taking a career-best 5 for 26 in his first Sheffield Shield game of the season after Scott Boland had removed Sam Konstas for the sixth time.

Ireland 270 for 8 (Stirling 60, Carmichael 59, Mehidy 3-50, Murad 2-47) vs Bangladesh
Bangladesh's spinners wrested back control from Ireland at stumps on the first day of the Sylhet Test. The visitors lost their way after a strong first session, ending the day on 270 for 8. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took three wickets while Hasan Murad, the debutant left-arm spinner, picked up two wickets.
Ireland started losing their way in the middle session as they went from 96 for 1 to 184 for 4. Four more fell in the last session as they ended the first day in a disappointing note. Paul Stirling and debutant Cade Carmichael had given Ireland a bright start with a 96-run second-wicket stand. Stirling, opening for the second time in his career, made 60, with a dominant display through square on the off-side. He struck seven of his nine boundaries through that region.

Victoria 340 for 7 (Handscomb 103, Harper 54, Kellaway 51, Starc 4-91) vs New South Wales
Mitchell Starc revealed he has been working on ironing out some technical issues ahead of the Ashes as he warmed up for the Test series with some hostile bowling on the opening day against Victoria at the SCG.
Starc ended the opening day with 4 for 91 from 18 overs, including a particularly rapid spell after lunch, but New South Wales paid the price for dropping Peter Handscomb before he had scored as he forged an impressive century to leave the visitors handily placed on a hard-fought day.

Fourth T20I washed out; New Zealand remain 2-1 up vs West Indies

Just 39 balls were possible in Nelson after New Zealand asked West Indies to bat under cloudy skies

Match abandoned West Indies 38 for 1 (Athanaze 21, Jangoo 12*, Neesham 1-5) vs New Zealand
It seems the weather deities didn't want New Zealand and West Indies to duke out two T20Is in successive days as rain in Nelson washed out the fourth game just 39 balls in. It means that New Zealand's 2-1 series lead is now unassailable. West Indies can level the series in the fifth and final game in Dunedin on Thursday.
Interruptions were expected at the start of the afternoon game as clouds hung low, and the weather forecast showed high chances of showers throughout the late afternoon and early evening. While the toss and start of play happened on time, the first interruption, of about 30 minutes, came five overs into the game. The second one came nine balls later, and resulted in the whole thing being called off.

South Africa A 221 (Ackerman 134, Prasidh 3-35) and 417 for 5 (Hermann 91, Senokwane 77, Hamza 77, Prasidh 2-49) beat India A 255 (Jurel 132*, van Vuuren 4-52) and 382 for 7 dec (Jurel 127*, Cele 3-46) by five wickets
Connor Esterhuizen showcased his impressive game against spin in a bludgeoning 52 not out that helped South Africa A beat fading light to chase down 417 five wickets in hand against India A at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. This was the highest fourth-innings chase in a first-class game in India since 2016, and the sixth-highest ever in the country.
Esterhuizen's innings comprised eight fours and a six, as he helped South Africa A convert a tricky chase in the final hour into a cruise. His unbroken sixth-wicket partnership with Tiaan van Vuuren was worth 65 off just 52 balls.
