Afghanistan 188 for 6 (Atal 73*, Omarzai 53, Kinchit 2-24) beat Hong Kong 94 for 9 (Hayat 39, Naib 2-8, Farooqi 2-16) by 94 runs
There was a contest between man and nature to see who was hotter and in the end, try as the elements could, they couldn't match Azmatullah Omarzai's fire. Even in 41°C heat, he burned brighter, scoring Afghanistan's fastest T20I fifty and just kept going from there.
Omarzai was responsible for one of two blink-and-you'll-miss-it run-outs, which, coming on the back of a Hong Kong fielding performance that included three dropped catches, was cricket working a little too hard to highlight the gulf between the two sides. Full Member Afghanistan made 188 for 6. It was 94 too many for their Associate nation opposition.

Sibley, Burns add fifties as champions push into dominant position after even first-innings tussle

Surrey 246 and 181 for 1 (Sibley 64*, Pope 56*, Burns 56) lead Warwickshire 248 (Young 72, Barnard 50, Lawes 4-42) trail by 114 runs
Ollie Pope's quickfire 56 not out underlined a dramatic second day turnabout in fortunes with Surrey taking charge of their vital Rothesay County Championship match against Warwickshire at the Kia Oval.
Dom Sibley also made an unbeaten 64 as Surrey cruised to 181 for 1 in their second innings, helping Pope add an unbroken 89 after initially featuring in a 92-run opening partnership with Rory Burns, who scored 54 before being bowled through the gate by Ethan Bamber.

Wickets tumble at Hove as Abbott, Fuller strengthen Hampshire's hold

Sussex fight back after being bowled out for 122 but face stiff chase in fourth innings

Sussex 122 (Alsop 39, Fortuin 4-30, Abbott 4-38) and 37 for 1 need a further 241 to beat Hampshire 226 and 173 (Fuller 49, Coles 4-47, Unadkat 4-50)
Hampshire took a firm grip of their Championship match against Sussex on the second day at Hove. In a low-scoring game they took a first innings lead of 104 after Sussex were bowled out for 122, losing their last seven wickets for 79.
Hampshire then recovered from 89 for 7 to 173 in their second knock, with James Fuller top-scoring with 49. That set Sussex 278 and at the close they had reached 37 for the loss of Daniel Hughes. Eighteen wickets fell in the day, after 13 had gone down in the first. The losing team here will take just three points, and could be dragged into the relegation argument, but rain is forecast for the second half of the match.

Hill, Masood build solid foundation for Leicestershire

Division Two leaders edging closer to promotion despite Gloucestershire racking up 482

Leicestershire 270 for 4 (Hill 88, Masood 80*) trail Gloucestershire 482 (Van Buuren 101, Charlesworth 74, Bracey 69, Akhter 64, Hammond 50) by 212 runs
Leicestershire's march towards promotion may be in danger of becoming something of a shuffle, but a resilient batting performance saw the Foxes go a long way towards securing the draw that depending on results elsewhere, could prove enough to see them over the line on the second day of their Rothesay County Championship match against Gloucestershire.
Big half-centuries from Lewis Hill, his fifth of the season, and Shan Masood, on his Championship debut for the county, saw Leicestershire recover from 86 for 3 and secure a batting bonus point before closing on 270 for 4. Both achieved personal landmarks in the course of their innings, Masood passing 12,000 first-class runs, and Hill 5000.
