Bell's late strikes put Tasmania on the brink in a thriller with Western Australia

WA slumped from 198 for 5 to 215 for 8 chasing 259 after Matt Kelly's career-best 6 for 49

Western Australia 172 & 215 for 8 (Hardie 61, Bell 3-60) need 44 runs to win against Tasmania 171 & 259 (Weatherald 94, Silk 57, Kelly 6-49, Gannon 3-65)
Two crucial late strikes from Gabe Bell has put Tasmania on the brink of victory at Bellerive Oval after Western Australia quick Matthew Kelly took a career-best six-wicket haul on a wild day of momentum swings.
Chasing 259 to win in the fourth innings WA were 198 for 5 as they neared stumps on day with Aaron Hardie on 61 having shared a half-century stand with Joel Curtis before they lost three wickets in 12 balls with Bell snaring two of them. It left WA still needing 44 to win at stumps on day three with Curtis not out alongside Corey Rocchiccioli and No.11 Liam Haskett still to come.

South Africa 121 for 0 (Wolvaardt 60*, Brits 55*) beat Sri Lanka 105 for 7 (Gunaratne 34, Mlaba 3-30, Klaas 2-18) by ten wickets (DLS method)
20-overs-a-side
South Africa took a big step towards a World Cup semi-final berth by chasing successfully for the fourth time in the tournament, this time in a rain-reduced encounter in Colombo. They played what was essentially a T20 against Sri Lanka, whose innings was paused for five-and-a-quarter hours, and whose semi-final hopes now hang by a thread. Sri Lanka have two points from two washouts and are winless. For any chance of a final-four spot, they must win their last two games and hope other results go their way.
After choosing to bat first, Sri Lanka faced 12 overs before the rain delay and scored 46 for 2. They returned to hit 59 runs in eight overs, losing five wickets in the process. South Africa's target was adjusted up from Sri Lanka's final score of 105 for 7 to acknowledge the hosts did not know they would only bat 20 overs for 60% of their innings.

Victoria 240 & 177 (Hatcher 3-29, Hadley 3-53) beat New South Wales 163 & 216 (Davies 64, Konstas 53, Boland 5 for 67, Murphy 3-17) by 38 runs
Sam Konstas finally won a battle with Scott Boland but New South Wales lost the war against Victoria with the Test quick and spinner Todd Murphy combining to bowl their state to a thrilling victory at the Junction Oval inside three days.
New South Wales were 184 for 5 needing just 71 to win before Boland took the last five wickets of the match, including Oliver Davies for 64 as he threatened to take the game away. Boland also gave Davies an uncharacteristic stare after knocking off his leg bail with a stunning delivery that jagged back through the gate. Earlier, Murphy took 3 for 17 in a game-changing spell, including bagging Konstas for a rollicking 53.

Australia 202 for 0 (Healy 113*, Litchfield 84*) beat Bangladesh 198 for 9 (Mostary 66*, Haider 44, King 2-18, Wareham 2-22) by 10 wickets
This one followed the script, even if it wasn't a flawless performance by Australia.
With back-to-back centuries, Alyssa Healy led Australia to a 10-wicket victory against Bangladesh in Visakhapatnam, some 24 hours after the Colombo weather intervened to ensure there would be no twist featuring Pakistan and England in what has been a predictable World Cup results-wise so far.

No result England 133 for 9 (Dean 33, Sana 4-27, Iqbal 2-16) vs Pakistan 34 for 0 (Sohail 19*, Muneeba 9*)
Pakistan will never know, and England won't want to know after they escaped what had threatened to be the upset this World Cup craved, thanks to the start of the Colombo monsoon.
Both teams took a point - Pakistan's first from four matches and England's moving them to the top of the table, leading Australia on net run rate - after what had shaped as a thriller ended in a washout, the second in as many days at the R Premadasa Stadium.
