Afghanistan 170 for 4 (Zadran 48, Gurbaz 40, Haider 2-23) beat UAE 166 for 5 (Waseem 44, Asif 40, Sharafuddin 1-20, Noor 1-23) by four runs
Afghanistan had the game sewn up. They were playing a second-string side with even their captain Rashid Khan among six players sitting out. But Asif Khan threatened to rip it wide open. A dead rubber had burst to life. Fareed Ahmad started the final over with 16 to defend and was bashed for 4 and 6 off the first two deliveries. An upset was looming and the left-arm quick felt it. Asif felt it, batting on 40 off 25. It never came to be.
Fareed had three chances to influence the outcome and he came up with the perfect option each time to close out the match: 4, 6, 2, dot, dot, wicket. And so, UAE ended the tri-series winless but they came so very close. The emotions at the end were excruciating, particularly for Asif and the captain Muhammad Waseem. They're going to make the Asia Cup very interesting.

Motie, Hope and Pretorius combine to keep Royals winless

The win helped Amazon Warriors get their campaign back on track after two losses in a row

Guyana Amazon Warriors 170 for 6 (Hope 62*, Pretorius 53, Sampson 33*, Bosch 3-35, Simmonds 2-27) beat Barbados Royals 165 for 6 (Powell 50*, van der Dussen 45, King 39, Motie 2-16) by four wickets
Barbados Royals continued their winless run in CPL 2025, sliding to their fourth defeat in five games thanks to Shai Hope and Dwaine Pretorius in the main, as Guyana Amazon Warriors bounced back from successive losses to register their third win in five games in a rain-hit contest in Bridgetown.
Asked to bat at home, Royals didn't have a great start, losing Quinton de Kock in the fourth over and Kadeem Alleyne in the seventh, but Brandon King ensured they had a decent powerplay on the whole, reaching 43. But he was gone by the eighth over for a 27-ball 39, and then it was over to Rassie van der Dussen to keep things on course with Eathan Bosch and Sherfane Rutherford following King back to the dugout quickly.

Pakistan 171 for 5 (Zaman 77*, Nawaz 37*, Haider 2-17) beat UAE 140 for 7 (Sharafu 68, Abrar 4-9, Afridi 1-23) by 31 runs
Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz punished an error-strewn display in the field from the UAE, helping Pakistan recover from a jittery 80 for 5 and seal a 31-run win. Having set UAE 172 to win, Abrar Ahmed, playing his first game this series, helped run through the top and middle order, removing each of Muhammad Waseem, Asif Khan, Rahul Chopra and Harshit Kaushik. UAE would end up folding with limited resistance, and the result guarantees Pakistan and Afghanistan passage through to the final on Sunday, with the hosts eliminated.
Pakistan soon ran into trouble after winning the toss and opting to bat. Sahibzada Farhan made a brisk start once more but couldn't find staying power, holing out to the short onside boundary. It is the fourth game in a row he has been unable to convert a start, and Saim Ayub fell soon after.

South Africa 330 for 8 (Breetzke 85, Stubbs 58, Archer 4-62) beat England 325 for 9 (Root 61, Buttler 61, Bethell 58, Burger 3-63) by five runs
Matthew Breetzke had not been born when South Africa last won a bilateral ODI series in England. By extending a remarkable start to his career in the format, he helped them clinch this one with a match to spare. On his return from a hamstring injury, Breetzke hit 85 to underpin South Africa's total of 330, before their bowlers closed out a tense win under the floodlights.
Breetzke, 26, was born five-and-a-half months after South Africa's 2-1 triumph in the 1998 Texaco Trophy but will now lift the series trophy in Southampton on Sunday after his team took an unassailable 2-0 lead at Lord's. Unlike in Leeds, England at least competed but none of their three half-centurions - Joe Root, Jacob Bethell and Jos Buttler - kicked on past 61.

Kamindu and Nissanka salvage a victory for Sri Lanka

The visitors had collapsed from 96 for 0 to 125 for 5 in a chase of 175 in Harare

Sri Lanka 177 for 6 (Nissanka 55, Kamindu 41, Ngarava 2-19) beat Zimbabwe 175 for 7 (Bennett 81, Chameera 3 for 30) by four wickets
Kamindu Mendis' 41 not out off 16 from No. 6 rescued Sri Lanka from a collapse, and catapulted them to victory in a game that seemed to be slipping away. Sri Lanka needed 46 runs off the last four overs, having slipped from 96 for no loss to 125 for 5.
But Kamindu crashed four sixes and a four, the vast majority of those shots coming behind square on the leg side as Zimbabwe's seamers got their lines wrong at the death. In the end, Sri Lanka cruised home with five balls remaining and four wickets in hand.
