Slow Left arm Orthodox
A left-arm spinner, Bruce Martin is something of a veteran on the New Zealand domestic circuit, with over a decade's experience in first-class cricket. He first appeared on the scene in the 1997-98 season, when he was picked to play the Under-19 World Cup for New Zealand in South Africa.
During the following season, he played a series against the visiting England U-19s, which included youth Tests and one-dayers. He then debuted for Nothern Districts in first-class cricket in the 1999-2000 season, and remained with the side till 2009-10, when he transferred to Auckland. Ironically, he came up against his old team in his first match for Auckland, and went on to destroy them, claiming 7 for 97 in the first innings - despite Martin's commendable effort, though, Auckland succumbed to Northern Districts in the game.
After 13 years of first-class toil, Martin finally moved to the next level when he was named in New Zealand's XI for the first Test series of their home series against England in 2012-13.
Martin can offer some stiff resistance down the order when required, and has a couple of first-class centuries to his credit.
