Netherlands' former captain, he has represented Northamptonshire, Sussex and Surrey second elevens, and featured in every World Cup game his country has played. Born in Holland, he was a talented allrounder who usually bated in the middle order and was known as an extremely hard hitter. It was his bowling which most stood out, particularly his Man-of-the-Match performance against India in the 2003 World Cup in Paarl where his 4 for 35 included the prize wicket of Sachin Tendulkar. He also boasted Inzamam-Ul-Haq and Matthew Hayden amongst his World Cup scalps. The 2007 tournament in the Caribbean was his swansong as a player.
