Scorecard
Australia Under-19s put in an all-round performance to beat England Under 19-s by three wickets, with one ball remaining in Perth. A century from Jake Doran and a three-wicket haul from Jhye Richardson were the stand out performances for the home side, helping them take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
Set 242 for victory, Australia's chase did not get off to an ideal start as Saqib Mahmood, who ended with figures of 9-0-54-3, removed Jake Carder and Jaron Morgan inside five overs to leave them on 11 for 2. A 150-run stand between Sam Harper (67) and Doran (102) stabilised the chase, but England managed to slow down the scoring rate and the home side were left with 14 to get off 12 balls, Henry Thornton, however, struck 12 runs in the 49th over and hit the winnings runs to see his team home.
Earlier, England, who were put in, made 241 for 7 in 50 overs riding on a strong middle-over batting show. Aaron Thomason (66*) and Callum Taylor (61) top-scored for the visitors. Richardson removed Max Holden and Haseeb Hameed for 2 and 0 respectively inside seven overs, leaving England at 22 for 2. Two 70-plus partnerships in the middle overs helped the England past 200, but only four of the nine players managed double-digit scores. Richardson picked up 3 for 56 in his 10 overs while Henry Thornton returned figures of 2 for 48.
