on the back foot, tucked off the hips to get off the mark
Hampshire vs Somerset, Final at Birmingham, Vitality Blast Men, Sep 13 2025 - Live Cricket Score
outside off, Overton saw Albert shaping for the ramp and shifted his line, but the outswing took it too far...
6.58pm Out come the Somerset fielders, through the flamethrowers. Closely followed by Toby Albert and ... Chris Lynn, the man of the hour. outsid
6.56pm Right, this time it is nearly time for the final to begin.
Abhishek: "That 1st semi final was end of Sir Jimmy's T20 career, isn't it ? He is not getting picked up in T20 leagues, despite good performance. Hard to see he will sign next year contract or getting pick up in 2026 Hundred. I feel sad from inside" I wouldn't be so sure of that... he got 20 wickets in this campaign, and reached a semi-final at the first attempt for a decade. If he's willing, he'll be retained for sure.
6.38pm Just seven 22* minutes to go until the restart. Barely the equivalent of a tea break in a Test match. Chris Lynn's laser-focus probably won't be disturbed too much by what's just transpired...
*apparently the restart has been pushed back to 7pm. Makes some sort of sense!
Odinlass : "So a drinks break for Chris Lynn and he's back at the crease." Pretty much!
Abhimanyu : "Remember seeing one of those legends league games recently where Lynn was surprisingly playing for Australia and wrecked carnage on the windies with monstrous sixes. This one was very reminiscent of that"
Abhishek: "hold on . Semi final & final on same day & same ground ? And 2nd semi finalist playing just after few hours ?? is this normal??" Nothing normal about Finals Day, unless you factor in the 22 years of precedent!
Kavitha: "3rd T20's in a day.. no rest for Scorers " Ain't that the truth. Longest day of the year!
Somerset win the toss and bowl
Gregory: "Happy to chase... hopefully we can make some inroads first-up. Got back to the hotel to freshen up and get ready. In this environment if one or two guys come off, then can win you the game. Same team.
Vince: "It might dew up but runs on the board in the final... we've got a number of guys who've done it before, mix of youth and experience, one more push and we can celebrate again." Also unchanged.
Somerset 1 Will Smeed, 2 Tom Kohler-Cadmore, 3 Tom Abell, 4 James Rew (wk), 5 Sean Dickson, 6 Lewis Gregory (capt), 7 Ben Green, 8 Craig Overton, 9 Lewis Goldsworthy, 10 Miguel Pretorius, 11 Jake Ball.
Hampshire 1 Chris Lynn, 2 Toby Albert (wk), 3 James Vince (capt), 4 Ben Mayes, 5 Ali Orr, 6 Bjorn Fortuin, 7 Benny Howell, 8 James Fuller, 9 Scott Currie, 10 Chris Wood, 11 Sonny Baker
6.30pm It's time for the toss. Such a rapid turnaround from the second semi, with the rain delay eating into the day's timings.
6.22pm Well, hello again. It's the Vitality Blast final, live from Edgbaston, and it will be Somerset versus Hampshire, two of the biggest beasts of the County T20 jungle. And to judge by what Chris Lynn just did to Northants, beast is the operative word!
Lest we forget, Somerset are here after seeing off Lancashire in the first semi-final, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore playing the key hand there. They have been to Finals Day five years in a row, and this will be their third final in that period. Only one title though, in 2023, when they dethroned none other than... Hampshire. A win for them would a record fourth in the tournament's history.
