that'll do it! Too short, Trott flicks out to deep square leg off the back foot and England win the first Test by 8 wickets. Fitting that Trott is the one to do it, after his marathon effort in the first innings, which really set things up for England.

Steven Finn gets the Man of the Match award for his nine wickets in the match: "It's strange if I dont do it [fall over] two or three times in a match! Having lots of overs under your belt helps. I've bowled a lot of overs this season and I seem to have found a good rhythm."
Andrew Strauss: "It was far from a pushover, we had to work hard for this victory. Our bowling wasn't as good as it should have been in the first half of the game, but improved as the bowlers got some miles. Jonathan Trott played very well, we've talked a lot about getting big scores and he showed great temperament. Finn also bowled really well, he got pace and bounce and got more out of that track than anyone else."
Team make-up: "I dont think we've decided on one particular way of doing it. but on this track, early season in England we expected some help for the bowlers but there wasnt much in the track. we'll see how the bowlers pull up after today, the selectors are meeting tonight."
Shakib al Hasan: "We lost too many wickets in the first session, if we had batted one more hour we could have drawn the match. But the top-order batsmen played really well, especially with so many short balls at them. But our bowlers didn't do their job, expecially the fast bowlers. They need to work hard, practice and improve."
"Tamim was exceptional throughout this game, he batted really well. We need to improve and along the way we'll start to win games. This pitch was bouncy, but nice to bat on. With the overcast conditions the ball started moving a lot though!"
And, on that note, so ends the first Test. Bangladesh were a disappointment today, as the middle and lower order folded once again in overcast conditions. The sun then came out for England and the visitors' seam attack sprayed the ball around, allowing England to get off to a flying start. Shakib and Mahmudullah bowled well thereafter, but the game had already been lost by then.
Extraordinary, the game had been won, the Bangladesh players were coming over to shake his hand, and Trott was scraping his foot along his deeply furrowed leg-stump guard...
Goodness me, Trott takes guard!
can you believe it?? Shakib has bowled a maiden! KP drives straight to mid off
KP defends with the absolute straightest, deadest bat
no run again! KP wants the single but Trott sends him back as the ball goes gently to cover...
KP skips out but slaps straight to cover point!
ooh, almost had him there! KP went back to cut the ball kept low, but he jammed the bat down in time
very full, on the toes and pushed to mid on
cut out to deep cover
One to win, bets on Trott to take his guard, survey the field and then block it??
boos from the crowd as Pietersen stretches forward to defend! His captain is chuckling out on the balcony though
Just two to win, three minutes till tea
slapped extravagantly off the back foot behind square on the off side, four more!
KP gets some cheers from the crowd for this! Swept very hard and fine on the leg side for four
chopped off the back foot out to deep cover
Trott asks for leg stump, takes guard...
Mahmudullah drags one down, Pietersen punches to mid on off the back foot but mid on fumbles and they take one
Six minutes till tea, can England do it? They'll have to take the break, even if they're really close
tossed up on middle and off, Trott gets his left foot down the track and defends
too straight from Shakib, the ball comes off the pad and goes to short fine leg and they take a leg-bye
slightly quicker through the air, pitching on off from round the stumps and Pietersen stretches forward to defend
KP comes out with just 13 needed, but there is a left-arm spinner on...
gone this time! Strauss rocks back to cut and gets a thin edge on the shot, Mushfiqur clings on to the chance and throws the ball up in celebration. So, very similar to England's first innings there - given not out and then getting himself out very shortly afterwards!
swept fine down to fine leg, Strauss immediately calls for two
Strauss charged down the track, Shakib fired one down quicker and shorter and the ball looped up off the pad to be caught by Mushfiqur. Bangladesh think they have their man, but Billy Bowden is unmoved. Good decision by the look of it, straight off the pad and nowhere near the bat/glove
Just over 10 minutes till tea now
width on offer this time, Trott cuts well but point dives to cut the ball off
