I doubt I need to say anything further about this Test. It was a the rollercoaster we all hoped it would be and it beat every outlandish one anyone might have had. A great Test. A great start to the series and it is bound to only get better. Join us at the Gabba next Wednesday to see how things pan out. There will be a whole boatload of post-match stuff coming at you from Sid Monga, Dan Brettig, Jarrod Kimber and a special appearance from Rahul Dravid on #politeenquiries. Thank you for your company and your comments, you've been as brilliant as ever. This is Alagappan Muthu, knocking off being part of an Adelaide miracle from my bucket list

Fantastic win, some unbelievable performances. That's as good as second innings hundred as I've seen. Lyon, Smith, Haddin as captain were unbelievable says MIchael Clarke. The boys deserve a lot of credit to keep trying to win the game. The were willing to lose to win. I thought if India were good enough to make 360, credit to them. But credit to our boys, and our bowlers. Had a scan, results are not fantastic Going to struggle to take any more part in the series. Probably better of not talking about it, the workd is probably sick of seeing me crying on telly. But we did Phillip proud

Virat Kohli comes up and rubs his eyes a touch. Says it was a great game of cricket, proud of the boys, the kind of character they showed in tough situations it was a really good effort. Pretty pleased with the way we played, but Australia did better. Told the guys last night that whatever target it was we were going to chase it. I believed in my ability, Lyon bowled the ball in the right areas. If me and Vijay added about 40 runs there, the game would have been different. You see one opening and the team capitalises, and that's what Autsralia did. I was trying ot hit it much more in front of square. But it was one of those mistakes I'll look back and say I could have done better, Backing myself through the Test and no regrets. Have to play with passion and commitment and I;d like to congratulate the whole Australia team and actually participating here after all that happened in the last 10 days

Nathan Lyon is the Man of the Match Thanks the crowd, says it was tough old day and says it was fantastic for their support. Credit goes to the groundsman, produced a great Test wicket. Last summer's atmosphere was brilliant. [Umpire Erasmus]We;re going really well, he's a good umpire, tough decisions out there and I just had to keep asking question and lucky enough some came in my way. It was Test cricket, always twists and turns and we just had to hang in there. [Kohli and Vijay] They're unbelievable, they're superstars, credit goes to them but I'm sticking with Australia. Certainly I believed, it just happened. I'll keep on believing

5.40 pm What a Test. Another humdinger at Adelaide, but it was Australia who dug deep. They usually do, they barely fail to. They had eight wickets to take in 37 overs and one session to do so and they've done so in well under that mark. How well has Nathan Lyon been for them. He had a lot of rough to exploit and he hit them almost unfailingly, his length was that inbetween one that didn't quite allow the batsman to come all the way forward and from there on his extra bounce has served him well. Twelve wickets to set up the Test! Hats off to them.

But spare a thought for the Indians and Virat Kohli who walks out to shake hands with the opposition. His batting was imperious. His judgment of length was spectacular. He's being consoled by his team-mates, he deserved a victory today but Australia's bowlers never gave up and that's why they deserved it more. By the way, Match Point is live. So do tune in to that as well

Michael Clarke is back on the field, shaking hands and hugging his team-mates. Comes up to shake hands with Kohli, as does Shane Warne. One of the best innings by an Indian batsman, possibly any batsman

buggy: "A fitting match for the memory of Hughes. From the bouncer that hit Kohli and his fightback after being hit and the result of Australia winning a very closely fought test. Amazing!!"

Sudhir Bakhru: "India's previous England and Australia test series were disappointing because there was no fight. This was an awesome fight. I'd rather watch India lose trying to win the game than play for a tame draw. Good job Captain Kohli! "

Hemal: "Am I the only one crying??? "

Devesh: "@Hemal: You are not alone. There a lot here on this part of the world (USA) at 2:15am. Thank you, Virat!!!!"

John: "A nice symmetry. Australia lost 12 wickets in the match, and Lyon took 12 wickets in the match. MOM Nathan Lyon, surely"

Lyon to Sharma, OUT

stumped! Lyon has done it for Australia! Ishant has run down the track, but is beaten by the turn and is stumped down the leg side. Australia huddle up by the '408' at the ground and warm hugs are shared between them. Lyon taps the turf by the number in earnest

Johnson to Aaron, OUT

140kph, perfect ball first up and he's plumb in front! It was full, it curled in and Aaron is stuck in the crease and struck on the back pad. Off goes Aaron, Mitch has a huge smile on his face as he gambols around with his team-mates

Karn has a first-class century. Varun Aaron has a decent defensive technique. What will happen now?

Harris to Shami, OUT

full on off stump, Shami looks to hammer it down the ground and he's been caught at mid-off. What a poor choice of shot. Terrible dismissal as he falls into the trap. Harris bowls full to entice the drive and out it comes and the ball spoons to Johnson
