full, some width, drives but can't get it past backward point
Trinbago vs Patriots, 23rd Match at Basseterre, Sep 01 2018 - Match Result
9.45pm And that is that from Warner Park tonight. An interesting and deceptively competitive match, turned by one massive over. I was especially excited to see the pace that Joseph and Anderson Phillip generated today. Anyway, TKR are odds-on to finish in the top two. The Patriots will be playing another game tomorrow, against the Tallawahs, and will hope to recover some momentum there and continue to challenge for the playoffs. Until next time, it's goodbye from me and Ranjith.
Dwayne Bravo: "We didn't get a good start at home. It's good to win cricket games (four in a row), especially away from home. I have a good bunch of professional players who are hungry for success. We go back home now with some momentum. We want to keep winning. Winning is an attitude, and the aim is to finish in the top two. Well done to the entire team, especially Anderson Phillip who's come in for his first game (of the season). (Just told myself) to keep my eye on the ball and keep focused. Joseph is a very skillful bowler and has pace as well. He will learn from his mistakes - today was my day."
Chris Gayle: "I think credit to the bowlers, I thought they bowled well. Young Joseph bowled very well apart from that one over. Even though we lost early wickets I thought we were in the game. We're one win away, and hopefully once we get that everything will come together. Tomorrow is another game, quick turnaround, get this out of the system and up against Jamaica tomorrow."
Colin Munro is the Player of the Match. "The way DJ batted towards the end, we were 20 over par or 30 over par on that surface," he says. "The game was even after 10 overs (of the chase), and we decided to go wide and full and took the game away. It helps when you have a big target, but it shows we can bowl at the death. We only gave away something like 70 in the last 10. The way I played today showed I can adapt to different surfaces and different situations."
Dasun : "Very odd to see Mahmudullah at 9, even though he's a middle order finisher. May have not been an extreme difference, but it could've helped St. Kitts' NRR."
AlistairDiamond: "AND Narine has taken some good catches and effected a good run out today with a great throw. His wickets and runs are just a statistical blip I think, caused by chance, not form."
9.33pm Massive, massive win for TKR. Their end-overs batting was spectacular, but they've also bowled very well to defend 199. Differing approaches from the two seam attacks - where Patriots bowled back of a length and looked to deny the batsmen room, TKR, especially in the latter half of the chase, went full and looked to deny elevation. A good innings from Evin Lewis at the top of the innings, but once he was dismissed, the required rate just kept climbing.
One ball, 48 runs.
full, angling down leg. Misses the flick and the ball rolls off the pad to the left of short fine leg
Alzarri Joseph is the new man.
full, close to off stump, eased to deep extra cover off the front foot
slower length ball outside off. Looks to hit this over mid-off, ends up slicing it square and backward point, running to his right, judges it well
in the blockhole, close to off stump, driven back to the bowler
wcpak: "Narine has been completely off colour in this CPL. Not a single outstanding performance " -- And yet he's only conceded 22 in his four overs today.
back of a length on off stump, makes some room and slaps to backward point
wide-ish yorker, looks to jab at it with an angled bat, can't connect
and finally, we have Mahmudullah on strike.
full outside off, driven to deep extra-cover
full, a little closer to off stump, and that's a lovely clean hit from Brathwaite, held his shape and lofted it over long-on
length ball outside off, goes for the big hit and outside-edges it wide of the keeper
Free-hit.
high full-toss, and Brathwaite takes a blow to the back shoulder as he swivels a touch early through his pull. Nasty delivery, though not intentional
fullish, angling in towards leg stump, and King looks to whip across the line and goes too early at it. Thick leading edge, flies to backward point where the fielder, Narine, takes a chest-high catch
full, close to off stump, driven to long-off
Two overs to go, 63 runs to get. What a difference that one over from Alzarri Joseph to Dwayne Bravo made, at exactly this stage of TKR's innings.
slower ball outside off, doesn't pick it and misses, looking to slog over the on side.
bang. That's full, angling into off stump, and King clears his front leg to whack it hard and flat, back over the umpire's head
back of a length wide of off, slower one maybe. Looks to slog it over the leg side and gets a thick edge to short third man
stump-high full-toss outside off, flat-batted to the sweeper, one-bounce
in the blockhole outside off, makes some room and steers to deep point
Ihsaan: "Someone needs to show to St Kitts and Nevis management highlights of the Nidahas Trophy. Mahmudullah at 9?!!!!"
full, close to off stump, driven to long-off
Bravo.
stretches forward and across to try and sweep/scoop towards fine leg. Showed his hand a little too early and Ali Khan simply bowled it wider to beat him. Brathwaite thinks the umpire should have signalled wide
