more short stuff, this time from the medium-pacer, not quite a forceful boundary, but just as easily pulled out to square leg. And that's all they need!
Amazon vs Stars, 15th Match at Gros Islet, Aug 24 2018 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Stars won by 6 wickets (with 11 balls remaining)
12.44am And just like that, it's over! Like, where did that come from? I know it's Kieron Pollard but that was stunning! In a matter of six balls, he's turned this around, smashing balls like he was facing them from 14-year old kids throwing underarm to him. A savage finish after what had seemed like a tight contest for the most part. But, hey, give away 30 runs in an over, and you don't expect it to not have a drastic effect too often! All that means Stars finally have some points up on the board, after five defeats in six matches. Pollard has had his place and role as captain questioned for a while. But this innings answers at least one of those questions. Fletcher held his ground, staying unbeaten on 45 at nearly a run a ball, but Pollard neutralises almost everything else that happened in the game in a matter of six balls. But for his solid effort, Fletcher earns the Man-of-the-Match award.
PDP with some perspective:"What a difference a week makes. Last Thursday, Pollard was giving up five sixes to Darren Bravo in a 32-run over, the most expensive in CPL history as TKR pulled off a monumental heist. Now Polly is the one crashing 30 in an over." Karmic!
So that's that then. As always, your comments were engaging and entertaining. Keep 'em coming for tomorrow's double-header. For now, off you go!
Just one to win now!
start with a bang and end it with a bang! No, like, I mean BANG down the ground to one that's pitched up with enough room to swing a mini-truck!
cover your face and get down on your knees.. Rapidly! For this is shovelled straight back. I'm blacking out watching these shots on TV! Can imagine what it must be like out there
too full and too much width.. can't bowl there, I'm afraid, mate. If you do, you get pulverised, like this one which soars way over long-off and never seems like it'll drop down
three in three? Not quite, but he'll take that.. it's a four. Again, brute force as he stays back and swings around with a pull through midwicket
now he gets it through the other side of the ground. Slightly back of a length, rocks back and flays a pull over cow corner. Opposite side, same result
that's huuuge! POllard swings for the fences, pitched right up and shovelled over long-off. Right in his swinging arc
full, pushed wide of long-on
hurries onto him and he manages to keep it out drilling it back towards the bowler
full on middle, pushed past short midwicket to long-on
back of a length, cuts in, punched to midwicket
on the pads, clips them and skips away down to fine leg
on the pads, flicked through square leg
short of a length, squares him up with extra bounce and goes through to the keeper
rides the bounce outside off and flays it through backward point
short, wide, cut to point
shuffles across and pushes to long-on. 100 up ut work remains
worked through extra cover
full, pushed to long-on
Peter's in the mood for wrestling analogies. "Stars had GAW in a pretty firm sleeper hold before the rain break, the ref raised the arm and let it fall twice but on the final check before calling for a submission, the Warriors started shaking the arm and are rising off the mat."
