India are celebrating, there's a huddle close to the pitch. Six over long-on, but it's not enough. It was a full ball that Sophie got down to and lofted.
IND Women vs ENG Women, 1st Semi-Final at Birmingham, CWG 2022, Aug 06 2022 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Against all odds, India defeat the hosts and get to the finals. They'll find out who joins for the gold medal match in a few hours. Live coverage will continue here on ESPNcricinfo as Australia take on New Zealand. We'll see you there. For now, it's goodbye from me, Ekanth, my fellow commentator, Andrew McGlashan, and our scorer, Binoy George.
Harmanpreet Kaur: (On her exuberance) I had to be fired up, because if I am charged the team would be involved and they'd never think we're out of the game. (On the start with the bat) Shafali did well in patches, sometimes it's hard to go when you don't get strike. She'll learn about staying in and find ways to overcome such situations. But Smriti was fantastic. (On Jemimah's injury and not taking the field in the last over) Jemimah is a fighter, these things happen. She will be fine, she got a little strain on her hand but she should be able turn up for the final. (On bowling Shafali) She's very confident, we need someone who asks to bowl. You need to mix up the pace, so we tried to use her to vary the speeds. One of her overs went well but the other was expensive. (On being asked if she'll watch the second Semi-final) I definitely will, to learn from it and make our plans for the final.
Smriti Mandhana: (What she was going through in the last over) I was trying to remember the last-ball matches and hoped we would get over the line. We haven't done that well, so more than my fielding, I was hoping to get over the line this time. (On the bowling order and changes) We have given a few overs but with matches like this, roles have to be changed. Deepti's overs in the middle were important. Rana was amazing bowling with only three fielders in the deep. That will be remembered for a long time. (On her batting form) I was batting well in the last 2-3 weeks, it was like I was 2-3 years back. I'm happy to have found the touch, hope it will continue in the final too. (On the atmosphere) The crowd is amazing, we usually have the majority but England had it today. I'll take half an hour for the feeling to sink in.
Stat from Sampath: India's first win in a women's T20I knockout game outside Asia Cups
Ritwik Kapur: "Whatever said and done, Shefali shouldn't have been given over 16, especially when you have a remaining quota of Meghana and Radha. "
Kunal: "Sneh Rana, you beauty, you never disappoint us"
Vikash: "I take back everything I said earlier. Bravo Girls! Super Proud!"
2:12 pm: Well, who would have thunk it?! India manage to hold their nerve and beat hosts, England to ensure a medal in CWG 2022. Did this slip off the hosts' hands or was it India pulling through? You decide. But here's how it went in the second innings. The powerplay, like in the first, was great for the batters. Dunkley and Wyatt got going, it meant Renuka did not get her customary overs in the first six. Deepti came in, she had a good match-up against Dunkley and got her. Capsey started well but her stay was cut-short by a run out. Sciver, who came in, did not takeoff. And after Wyatt pulled a ball back on to her stumps, Amy Jones joined her. After some consolidation, she was pushing along but Sneh Rana tightened the screws. In the last stretch, Jones and Sciver got boundaries but tried to go for risky runs and found themselves short. Rana, along with Pooja, finished off the innings by keeping the boundaries away to take India to the final.
Harman cheers, Jemimah is celebrating! India have effectively sealed this. It was full on the stumps, whacked along the ground to long-on.
Dropped at long-on! Harleen Deol, subbing for Rodrigues, went to her right and could not hold on. It was a fullish ball chipped but the fielder missed it. Leaves it with 12 needed off 2.
Two hits could give England a tie, but India have the advantage.
Full toss on leg, Brunt makes room and tries to whack it over mid-off but she finds Harmanpreet there! It was off the outer-half. Brunt walks in resignation. The skipper is jubilant as is Sneh Rana.
Full ball outside off, driven to mid-off.
Yorker outside off, Bouchier made room and tried to reach out and drive it square. She missed and the keeper caught it low and got the bails off. The batter managed get back to the crease.
India are slow on over rate. So they are penalised with one fewer fielder in the outfield. Rana will bowl it. 14 to win.
Brunt comes down the track, Pooja goes very short. It's outside off. Beats her on the pull. It was high but was given one for the over. Brunt asked for the wide but could not get it.
Brunt is in, brimming with determination
Tight call for a run out at the striker's end. It goes upstairs! She pushed for two and is well short as the keeper collects the ball, leans to her right and whips off the bails. It was a full ball whacked to Mandhana at deep midwicket who came in quickly and threw it in a flash.
Luck favours Sciver, she tries to turn a full ball under the knee-roll but it deflects and goes past the left of the diving keeper for four more!
Sets up for the slower one, gets it on a back of length. It sits up and she hammers a pull over deep square leg. Over the ropes and Danni Wyatt punches the air in the dug out.
Another slower one, on a length. Makes room and slaps it long-off.
Slow back of a length ball over the stumps, pulled to deep midwicket.
Pooja Vastrakar comes in
Just three off the over. Sciver hasn't gotten going but she can take the team home with two to go.
Yorker on off, overbalances to the off side but while flicking it to wide long-on, which she did successfully.
Goes across, gets a full ball. She tries the sweep and misses. Sneh appeals for the LBW and is turned down. With 5 seconds to go, India review. Sciver had shuffled across and her pad was outside off. So, the impact could be an issue. But there's a thin inside edge on its way to the pad. India are out of reviews.
Length close to the tramline. Comes down and manages to reach out and slap it to deep point.
Full on middle and off, flat too. Drilled to long-on.
Jones drives to cover and goes for a quick run. Gets run out! It was full and she came down the ground, drove it hard to the right (non-dominant) side of Radha Yadav, the fielder. But she had enough time to pick it up and throw it to Sneh who did the rest.
Full ball turns in sharply to fourth stump. Beats the slog sweep, it kept a bit low too.
30 off 3 needed with 7 in hand. Sriram says, "Its England's game to loose! Will take a miracle for India to win"
Slow on a length, it's wide and Jones caresses a cut to point.
Sciver was looking to come down so Deepti darted the full ball down leg, she reached out and flicked it to deep-fine leg.
