Fullish, angling across, and just enough nip away off the seam to take the outside edge as Latham looks to flick leg-side again. Just a thin outside edge, and Pope snaffles a straightforward chance. 62/2 52.4 to DJ Mitchell, there's the breakthrough! Mitchell winds through a lusty pull, but Carse's heavy length gets the better of him, it's a steepling leading edge, all the way down to deep third, where Brook judges a simple take well. The leg-side was packed, but Stokes didn't neglect the glorified fly slip!. 199/4 84.1 to TG Southee, heaved straight out to deep square! Southee aims for Test six No.94, but Carse finds some good lift outside the eyeline, and he can't get hold of his stroke. Atkinson settles some ten yards in from the rope, and that's an ideal start to England's day. 325/9 90.6 to W O'Rourke, yorker! That's perfection. He took his time to target the tailender's stumps, but when he did it was dynamite. That wasn't a wicket ball, but the scorebook will beg otherwise! Blundell was looking solid, but he lost his shape there, trying to cut but settling for a wafty back-foot punch. This is turning into a very good day for Bashir... on a length, tight line, Smith was on the back foot looking to work it around the corner but could only clip it straight into Root's hands. 252/7 78.5 to MJ Henry, skips down to turn this into a half-volley, and swings hard... but picks out Duckett at long-on! Oh dear. Ravindra knew it was coming, another short ball, luring the swipe across the line, into the wind... Bethell tracks back in the deep and gets his body underneath the offering for a solid take. Huge moment! It wasn't especially short but there was energy on that ball from Carse, hitting the pitch with attitude. 64/3 45.2 to GD Phillips, pinned in front, Carse roars in celebration! Phillips walks down for a chat with Mitchell after asking for a review. Wide on the crease, hard length, nipping back off the seam to hit the top of the back pad.
