straight, full and again hacked into the ground, out to long-on
Pakistan vs England, 1st T20I at Dubai, Feb 23 2012 - Ball by Ball Commentary
It's all over, Pakistan win by 8 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the series. Junaid kept his nerve, despite expensive figures earlier on, but it was Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal who tightened the noose in the final over. England didn't bat badly but they left themselves with a little too much to do, failing to appreciate that Misbah had a couple of maverick aces tucked up his shirt sleeve. Still, a closely fought game, sixes, wickets, cheerleaders ... Everyone goes home happy. Oh, and Umar Gul was Man of the Match. Have a good night, ta ra!
Barring distaster ...
full toss, swings hard, hits high up the bat and flies through extra-cover
England need extras to win from here ...
wide yorker as Swann backs away ... and he chops into the ground
pitched up again, can't get under the ball, crunched low down the ground
full, hacked widly out between long-on and deep midwicket - they scramble back for two
slow ball, batsman fails to connect byt the batsman charge through for a run anyway as Umar misses from behind the stumps
Here's Junaid again, at the death. Off we go then ...
A superb over from Ajmal, who finishes without a wicket but has put Pakistan within touching distance of victory.
leg-stump line and deflects off to short third man
tossed up, again swipes at thin air as the ball skids past the stumps
doosra, pitching outside leg and Swann reverses his grip ... misses with a huge yahoo!
flat, outside off and drive hard to extra-cover, who fires in a throw to the bowler's end
tossed up a bit more and chipped out towards deep midwicket
short of a length, Bairstow misses with a heave the ball passes an inch or two over the bails
That over has swung the match right back towards Pakistan. Looks like a bumper crowd is going to get a grandstand finish ...
full toss, driven flat to long-off
full, straight and driven into the ground back over Gul's head
yorker, blocked out into the off side
full, swinging in and gone! Patel shuffled across, wafted a bat outside the line and was hit on the full, directly in front of off. That was a wicked delivery, ducking inside Patel's attempted stroke. And Gul's on a hat-trick
another for Gul! Necessity is the mother of Buttler's downfall here, the Somerset man stepping outside off and angling his bat, attempting to bounce it over the infield using the pace of the ball ... but it was a slow delivery and Buttler couldn't clear short fine leg standing inside the ring
full, Bairstow can't get under it and driven to long-on, well fielded to deny a second run
Ajmal is kept at bay for another over and England will need 25 from the last three.
leg side, given some air, shovelled away to deep backward square leg
full toss, mishit to cover
