that's a four to finish the chase as he guided that full delivery from outside off between point and short third man
MI vs RCB, 16th match at Bengaluru, IPL, Apr 19 2015 - Ball by Ball Commentary
11.40pm Another run-fest at the Chinnaswamy and this one gives Mumbai their first win of the season. Finally. They were given a platform by Simmons' fifty, along with Rohit's, and even though chasing 200+ is not as tough on this ground, Malinga and Harbhajan made sure they started very well to stifle the openers, especially Gayle. The RRR had shot up by the time AB came in and he fired a 11-ball 41, but the task was too tough for RCB by then. David Wiese also tried, along with Iqbal Abdulla, and Mumbai finally get off the bottom off the table.
Virat Kohli: It was entertaining how AB and Wiese played it out in the end. A lot of things went wrong except for what those two did. We should have had a better approach in our batting. We need guys to play the way AB did, Wiese also backed himself and played positive cricket. Some of our guys got out in unlucky ways at the wrong times. We have a lot of things to look at, including the bowling. We bank on our opening stand and the start we get, that's one area we need to improve in as well. We gave too many extras and we need to look at that. We need to look at one game at a time.
Rohit Sharma: The way we batted was brilliant, we were positive all throughout. Finally putting everything was good to see and we got to a good score. The bowlers did a very good job in the end, fantastic in the end as there was dew. There was pressure on us after losing four out of four. We were positive to start off and finished off really well. Malinga wanted to prove a point against this quality line-up, not just him everyone bowled well - Bhajji and McClenaghan as he got Kohli's wicket.
Harbhajan Singh is the Man of the Match: 100th game is something I'm happy about, having played all 100 games for one franchise. It's good to pick wickets whenever it's required and I'm happy to pick three wickets. First six overs we were right on track as Gayle can take the game away from you and they have other serious players like Kohli and de Villiers. Such targets have been chased here before but we wanted to bowl well all the time.
That's all from us as far as the weekend goes, four more matches done and dusted. Join us again on Monday as the carnival continues. Until then, goodbye and goodluck!
Sunil: "David Wiese should be the man of the match. For his 4 wicket and 47 runs. dont see the winner only see the performance of players."
Madhav: "I have immense respect for Kohli but Personally I feel that he should have stepped up to the challenge and take the responsibility"
full around off, lofted down the ground and Rohit cuts it off while going to his left
takes the pace off again and targets the stumps, slogged to the leg side for one
another slower short ball, pulls this time and finds deep backward square leg
slower short ball, he heaves and misses that one
dropped at long-on by Rohit! Wiese waited for the slower ball and lofted it down the ground, Rohit had enough time to take a few steps in but he spills it. At least he throws it quickly and Abdulla can't come back on time
28 required from the last six, it is possible technically. Pollard has the ball
JV: "Lendl Simmons is the MoM today, not because of his 59, but for dropping Gayle... If only RCB got 22 extra balls and only 10 more to score, they'd have chased this down easily.."
makes room again, Malinga chases him with a very low full toss which is pushed to cover
almost a yorker just outside off, Abdulla makes room and looks to drive on off, and gets a thick edge fine on off for four
full on off, driven down to long on. There's a confusion as they think of two. Wiese turns around for the second but is sent back. Malinga doesn't collect the ball which makes Abdulla think of overthrows but Wiese is flat on the ground
nearly in the block hole again on off stump, punched back to Malinga
right in the block hole again under pressure, Wiese blocks it back. He had no choice
yorker at 138kph on the off stump, digs it out towards point for one
starts with a wide down the leg side
35 from two overs, here's Malinga
fullish on the pads now, flicked away to deep midwicket for one
that's a bouncer, Abdulla hooks and misses. Called a no ball for the second bouncer of the over. The bowler is very unhappy
full toss on the pads, that's nearly a four but deep backward square leg takes it on the bounce and saves three
Looks like this match is not over yet
too short to mix up the length, it was a slower one and Wiese cuts it fiercely wide of point
that's poor length - too full outside off and Wiese hammers it through the covers for another four
Round the wicket
clever slower bouncer outside off, Wiese waits, then looks to cut but misses
short of length and wide outside off, he slices it off the back foot and finds the gap between point and short third man for four
McClenaghan comes back
