Back-to-back drops by Vastrakar and South Africa win! Quite aptly, Tryon hits the winning runs. Picks the flighted ball and looks to deposit it over deep square leg. Almost ends it down the fielder's throat, who parries it over.
That bear hug between Tryon and de Klerk was quite a picture after South Africa completed the win, given all that had happened off the field ahead of this match. The entire team and support staff now pose with the trophy as this series comes to an end. But remember, there's a lot in store in the next couple of months as far women's cricket is concerned - T20 World Cup, WPL auction and then the WPL as well. So hoping to have your company for all that and more. For now, on behalf of Binoy and Srinidhi, it's goodbye. Ciao!
5:57pm Time for the presentation.
Harmanpreet Kaur: "Body is fine. It will get better with rest. We have got some good performances. Unfortunately today we were not able to bat the way we wanted and the bowlers did well."
Chloe Tryon, player of the match: "I think the bowlers did well upfront and it's good to make some runs on a tricky wicket like that. We did well as a team. Going into the T20 World Cup we are confident. Playing at home is exciting."
Deepti Sharma, player of the series: "Throughout the tournament, I bowled according to the situation and as a bowling unit we did well. Wickets were turning and helped spinners. We did well."
Sune Luus: "Super proud of the girls. We needed just that momentum heading into the T20 World Cup. It was out and out a spinning wicket. All the bowlers did extremely well and a special innings to top it off from Chloe. We pride ourselves on her field and we will be working on improving it in every game."
Sriram: "Well, hope that shakes the dressing room a bit. Outplayed by SA totally on a tough pitch. Atleast it hasn't come in a WC game" Nothing really shattering about the loss. It is their batting pace that needs fixing that's all. Otherwise the track was quite a tough one to bat on.
5:49pm South Africa are the tri-series champions! What a game this has been, and what a knock it has been from Tryon. India always had a below-par score. And that they could make a fist of it was largely because of their spinners at the start. But it again showed what South Africa had - and what India lacked or where they missed the trick - a power-hitter down the order. Tryon increasingly looked at ease against spin and India had to turn to seam, and ended up playing in her hands.
Renuka was impressive in a different role - not taking the new ball - but ran into a set Tryon. So did Vastrakar, who started well. But her 14-run second over decisively shifted the game towards South Africa and there was no looking back thereon. A huge positive result for South Africa. Lots of learnings to take back for India, who were quite clinical in the competition otherwise.
Spinning in on a length, Vastrakar drops it at deep square leg. She didn't commit straightaway and ended up having to dive later on.
Flighted full around off and middle, Tryon charges down and heaves to finish it one blow. Ends up getting an inside edge onto her pads to the off side.
Low full toss outside off, sliced through mid-off.
Goes back to the inspinning ball and steers it to short third.
Finds the gap at deep midwicket. Bowls it quick and dishes out a full toss on off. She clears her front leg and thumps it over the on side.
10 needed off 18. Rana .
Full on middle and leg, clipped to deep midwicket.
Maiden T20I half-century for Tryon and what a time to get that. Heading into a home T20 World Cup. Couldn't have timed it better. Whips the low full toss wide of long-on to get to the other end. She knows the value of what she has done and raises her arms to celebrate it.
Fullish outside off, leans forward, pats it to the off side and hares for a quick one.
Full on middle, knocked down to long-on. Moves to 49.
Very full outside off, heaved all along the ground to deep midwicket.
Fires it on a length on the pads, clipped to backward square leg.
Gayakwad back for her last over.
Very full on middle and leg, whipped through midwicket for one.
Fuller on leg, whipped to long-on.
Around the stumps.
Walloped! And that could be the telling blow. Floated full outside off, Tryon was standing outside leg stump. She quickly gets across, kneels down and deposits it over deep midwicket.
Fuller outside off, pushed through mid-off.
Ar Ramesh A N : "Initially thought why H Deol played slowly .. but now her innings was gold.. well played champ , as like R Dravid in ODIs during late 90's .." The game's not yet in India's favour. And even if it was, India's batting was a case of not utilising your given resources, which is never good.
Lands it on a length outside off, she goes back and steers it through vacant short third for two more.
Tossed up full outside off, leans ahead and drives it through extra covers for a couple.
Deepti is back and will bowl out. Harman perhaps would have liked to hold her back but that last over meant she cannot afford to.
Has that over turned the game decisively in South Africa's favour? They need 28 off 30 now.
Full on the pads, clipped behind square on the leg side. 14 off the over.
Crunched straight back. Overpitched on middle and leg, Tryon is deep inside her crease. Whips it straight back past the non-striker, with her back leg up, and beats long-on.
AdiCan: "What's making Tryon so good on this wicket? her approach? Her technique? Or sheer luck? " Agains spin, she is picking the flight and length early and finding the gaps. And reducing dots. She anyway likes pace on.
