Scholfield gets on one the boot and Stonehouse isn't able to find the gap at fine leg. Invincibles bow out with a win. The batter made room and got followed by a yorker, that was helped straight to short fine leg.
Invincibles vs Rockets, 29th Match at London, Women's Hundred, Aug 21 2023 - Match Result
Invincibles won by 3 runs
Lot of give and take at the Oval. We expected to see Katherine Sciver-Brunt play one last time in her career but a hip injury forced her out of the game. Both teams put up spirited performances to leave sparks behind and end their campaigns. Onto the men's game then, between the same sides and at the same venue. Vithushan Ehantharajah has started live coverage here, check it out. On behalf of Chandan Duorah and M Venkat Raghav, it's me, Ekanth, signing off.
Nadine de Klerk, POTM: It was a great pleasure to play at the Oval. Great to finish off the season with the win. She was hitting the ball beautifully, that's how it works, need to put up a partnership. The team has been great, short time in England, but I'm able to play with legends. Had a great time despite it being short.
5:46pm: Camera pans to Katherine Sciver-Brunt, all smiles, getting hugs and having laughs with her team-mates and support-staff members. It was a dead-rubber but what a great game! Scholfield almost let it slip at the end, almost being the operative word. Nailing the yorker last ball was perfect, it ensured Stonehouse's trio of boundaries at the end didn't got Rockets in touching distance but that was as far as they could get, in the end. Lest we forget, Scholfield's terrific run out of the in-form Lizelle Lee opened up the game. Credit needs to go to Sophia Smale, who took key wickets, including that of Nat Sciver-Brunt. Lee was in full flow with the bat, Nat chipped in with a cameo. Dattani and Stonehouse gave Oval Invincibles a scare but could not take Rockets over the line.
Four needed off the last ball for the tie, five for the win. Long-off brought back in. Off-side infield is covered. Keeper goes back
Oh boy, Stonehouse goes across and pulls it behind square. No one in the outfield. Four for the taking, crowd go right up in cheers!
Stonehouse picks out her area again, gets it in her half and lifts it down the ground. Mady Villiers runs across to the left from long-on and dives, does so well to get there but parries it in the end.
Makes room, has to reach out a bit but manages to slap it over mid-off. Four, three more of those needed for the tie
Length on the pads, whipped to deep square
18 needed off the last set
Simon Doull says Oval were slow on time, missed the cut-off, and had to bring a fielder in. Worked out nonetheless
Dattani makes room, gets followed, she swings... and finds deep midwicket! Length ball around thigh-pad height, Dattani tried to lump it over the boundary but got it a few metres in the boundary.
Nadine's pulled it back somewhat, can Dattani spoil the finish? Bates and the bowler have a chat. Mid-off is brought up, extra protection out on the leg side
Full at the stumps, driven to long-on. 66mph.
Hits it to the leg side again but can't take two.
Dattani has two in two, this time wide of midwicket. Length at the stumps, Dattani heaved it over the infield
Full on the pads and Dattani helps herself to a flick over foward square. Deep-square and deep-mid converge but the ball goes between
28 needed off 10. Rest of the balls to be bowled from this end. Invincibles' game to lose. Nadine de Klerk to close out her last five.
Yorker at the stumps, dug out to the right of bowler. Smale runs across and dives to deny the single
Makes room and heaves the length ball to long-on
King makes room again, Smale aims for the stumps and hits middle. Smale wheels away in celebration. King was way down the leg side and tried to slash over point. The length ball had top of middle as target, and with King's bat out of reach, hit it.
Sits up on a back of length. King made room and got followed by a slow, length ball. Pulled hard and way over the deep-square boundary
Down the pitch, slaps it to cover. Stopped well by Bates
WIde on a length, slapped to cover
Flat on a length, pushed back to the bowler
Hits it in the same area. They won't risk the second this time
Another dive from Wilson as she speeds for the second but Smale does well to stretch her hands onto the stumps with the ball in it. Wilson's bat face is facing upwards, and not sliding the bat in costs her. The toe of the bat, which was up in the air, had crossed the crease but not the spine. Dattani tried to slog sweep it, underedged it and it fizzled to the fielder in the deep
God dive from Wilson. Cut to point and was struggling, throw from point was slightly off. It was a length ball that was cut
