gone again! A dream day for Sutherland, who must have never heard this lovely sound of ball crashing into the stumps so often in the space of just a few deliveries. She leads her side off the field, with her latest wicket ball cannoning into the top of off. She bowled on a length while swinging it in considerably, as Slater went slogging across the line, but missed
N S-Chargers vs Invincibles, 12th Match at London, Women's Hundred, Aug 02 2024 - Ball by Ball Commentary
A one-sided result in the end, with Sutherland's all-round show leaving Invincibles discharged. Superchargers' first win of the season has taken them up from No. 8 to No. 5 in the points table. But the action from the Hundred isn't done yet, as the men's teams face-off in about two hours' time. Until then, this is Himanshu signing off on behalf of Ashish, Chandan and Ranjith. Take care!
Invincibles captain Lauren Winfield-Hill: "They looked like getting 160. They just got a bit more out of the surface. They bowled a bit more Test-match seam up. We bowled a little more short at times. You go in confident every game... but the Superchargers have a world-class team. They were just better than us today. Crossy is a difficult one... she's got the away swinger. But the big bonus is the nip-backer. You've got to use the crease and your guard a little bit. The key is to remain consistent."
Anna Sutherland is the Hero of the Match: "Feel like we played pretty good as a group. There was a bit in the wicket. [The ball] went through the gate, I guess. Few individual reflections, but we bowled and fielded exceptionally."
5.16pm No more Invincible(s). Sutherland dominates with both bat and ball, as she follows up an unbeaten 63 off 40 balls with an incredible 4 for 11, where the ball pinged the stumps one after the other in a brilliant spell. Only three Invincibles batters went into double figures, as Superchargers put in an electrified performance to register their first win this season.
half an appeal for lbw, but not given. I think there was an inside edge, though. But, but... Superchargers review. And yup, there was a clear inside edge. Slater went driving at this full ball swinging in towards off, as she got an inside edge
Slater
three bowled wickets in the space of four balls! That sound of the ball hitting the stumps has been playing so often this innings. This hits the top of middle, as Smale leaves a gap between bat and pad while looking to push at this length ball landing outside off. But again the ball is hooping around sharply, and angles in to hit middle
much fuller length, and just outside off. Defended to cover
Smale to face the hat-trick ball
gone first ball! Sutherland is on a hat-trick! The inward movement with which Cross got two wickets today is now also evident for Sutherland. The latter went on a short of a length while swinging it in, as the ball landed on middle and off, and hit the the stumps on the higher side, as the batter leaned into a push
MacDonald-Gay
bowled her! A yorker fired on middle and off, and Wellington misses it. The ball was swinging in, and though Wellington was deep in the crease with her front leg out of the way, she misses after looking to slash. Invincibles are all but done, as Sutherland strikes
again makes a lot of room, and chips this fullish ball angling in towards leg to play on the bounce to long-off
on a length just outside off, and swatted back aerially over the bowler's head
backs away, and Smith goes full and on middle and leg. Driven back to the bowler
now gets across early, and Smith goes very full outside off. Swept to deep backward square
looks to reverse sweep this full ball angled in, but it lands outside leg, and she misses
Smith from around the wicket
makes room, and Cross follows by bowling on a length and angling it in to finish outside leg. Jabbed behind point
on the shorter side of a length on off, and swiped to deep midwicket
on a length around sixth stump, as she looked to slash but was beaten by the extra bounce
short delivery around off, and pulled to deep backward square leg
ohhh, lofted just over extra cover! She made room, and went attacking at this full ball outside off. The ball barely went over the fielder, and then wide of mid-off
Cross back
full ball drifting in, and hits her pad outside leg, as she looks to clip
Gardner in, and has a slip waiting
bowled her! Schofield falls in looking to repeat the sweep, while playing across the line. But this time the ball is a bit loopy, and the length is on the fuller side of middle and off. She goes slog sweeping again, but this time misses, as the ball hits the off stump
this is tossed up, and dips on a full length just outside off. Chopped towards cover
wow, clubbed over deep midwicket for a huge six! She clears her front leg, and slog sweeps this fullish ball on the stumps to send it flying off the bat
