Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Two Browns starred on an opening day that ended with honours even in Cardiff. Legspinner Odean Brown's strikes had Glamorgan gasping at 137 for 8 before David Brown made his highest first-class score of 99 to haul the county side to a moderate total of 261.
Glamorgan chose to bat but two strikes from quick bowler Lionel Baker had them down to 8 for 2 by the fourth over. Opener Gareth Rees made a half-century and added 53 for the fourth wicket with Mike Powell to guide Glamorgan to 84 for 3 before Odean Brown ripped through the middle order. Five wickets went down for 53 runs, but like their senior side, West Indies A proved incapable of pressing the advantage, allowing the final two Glamorgan wickets to nearly double the total.
The fightback was spearheaded by David Brown, who missed his maiden first-class century by one run. He blasted six sixes and seven fours during his three-hour innings, and dominated a 98-run stand with No. 10 Adam Shantry. He and the last man Chris Ashling added to the visitors' frustration by stitching together 26 runs, but he became Odean Brown's fifth victim when he holed out to Imran Khan.
West Indies' reply got off to as poor a start as Glamorgan's; both their openers were dismissed by 21-year-old new-ball bowler Will Owen in his first two overs.
