back of a length outside off, 82mph/132kph and dabbed down into the gully, where it is fielded - and that will be stumps at the end of an action-packed day
England vs West Indies, 3rd Test at Birmingham, ENG v WI, Jul 26 2024 - Live Cricket Score
6.35pm: So who's day was it in the end? West Indies were seemingly below par after opting to bat and only managing to cobble 282, with fifties from the old salts Kraigg Brathwaite and Jason Holder; but Jayden Seales led the charge with the ball to rock England's top order, as 13 wickets fell in apparently blameless batting conditions (though we did see a couple go up and down). The game is moving, that's for certain. Valkerie's report will have the tale of the day, and then we've got the evening Hundred match for you, too. All the cricket, all the time! Until tomorrow, it's goodbye from myself, Karthik and Ranjith. Cheerio!
Here's Chris Woakes speaking to Sky: "When we bowled them out we were really happy, obviously to lose three is not the perfect end of the day. We thought it was a good pitch. It did swing from the start, it was quite windy which helped the away swinger from the far end. We went short for a bit but the ball moved in the day all day. It would have been a harder day of not. Hoping it was cramp, managed to bowl a couple of overs. Back-to-back Test matches, bit of wear and tear, but hopefully fine. Fighting for a bit of rhythm but felt it came out fine. Felt I've got better as the series has gone on. Getting some rewards now, which is nice."

fullish, sliding in straight, Pope prods it away towards cover
"Two tests are being played simultaneously and all three teams that have batted already wasted their opening stands, England had to do something different to put up a massive total," chuckles Saifi. "I feel they've unlocked it!"
good length around off stump, blocked on the front foot
Seales to bowl the last over of day one
shortish at the body and flicked away through backward square leg for two to get going

Joe Root now trudges out to face the music
searching line, finds the edge - gone! Low catch but Holder is on it today and makes no mistake as he tumbles forward at second slip. Wood was camped in the crease, fending as the ball straightened on him, and England lose another in this bewildering mini-session. Seales with his second, celebrated with gusto
