Allrounder

Right-hand middle-order batter and left-arm spinner, allrounder Kavem Hodge made his first-class debut for Windward Islands as a 19-year old in March 2012. But inconsistency at the domestic level meant his chance in Test cricket for West Indies came only 12 years later. A bowling attack of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc in Adelaide was always going to be tough to face on debut, and Hodge fell for low scores to Hazlewood both times.

But Hodge hit back in the next Test, as he repaired West Indies' innings from 64 for 5 in Brisbane. He added 149 with Joshua Da Silva, before falling for 71 and giving West Indies a competitive total. West Indies ended up edging past Australia by eight runs in that game, and Hodge retained his place in the Test side for the tour of England in mid-2024.

While in England, he threw away a start in the first innings at Lord's, but made up for it at Trent Bridge. This time, Hodge went one better than what he had got in Brisbane, as he scored 120, his maiden Test hundred, having added 175 with Alick Athanaze. Before that innings, Hodge had also struck twice with the ball in the match.

Hodge's ODI debut had come a few months before he played his first Test. He had toured the UAE for three ODIs in June 2023, but didn't have a great impact with either bat or ball. However, Hodge had earned that opportunity on the back of a solid domestic season in 2022-23. In the Super50 Cup, he had hit 261 runs at an average of 52.20, while in the West Indies Championship that season, he got 387 runs at 38.70 to be Windward Islands' second-highest run-getter in both competitions.

Back in 2012, Hodge was part of the West Indies side at the Under-19 World Cup in Australia, where he was being led by the current Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite.
