full toss angled across, it looked high but perhaps marginal, she shuffles and swings it away towards deep midwicket where the catch goes down and the ball land on the boundary cushion on the full, but it matters little as New Zealand go down here
AUS Women vs NZ Women, 18th Match, Group A at Melbourne, T20 World Cup, Mar 02 2020 - Match Result
That concludes our coverage of this virtual quarter-final. Thanks for joining us, this is Ankur Dhawan signing off
Meg Lanning: Crunch game, we handled it really well. She (Beth Mooney) has been a really good player for a long time, we know her value. Wickets in hand allow you to go hard in the end, and we had two world-class players (Perry and Haynes) at the crease, which made a difference. I guess it took (Perry's injury) the extra pace option away from us. Haven't heard anything (about Perry's injury), it didn't look great, but hopefully she's alright. Goes a lot into managing players, unfortunately we've had a few injuries. We have full confidence, that Bangladesh game was a turning point. I think we showed that we are able to be calm under the pump, we have done the basics right which gives us confidence going into the semi-final
Sophie Devine: They got a few too many. You can always do things differently, in hindsight, cricket's an easy game. Wanted to hold Amelia back for the death overs. That last one was close to a no-ball but credit to Australia.
Georgia Wareham in the player of the match: Felt like I had a bit of confidence. I think they are really dangerous players - Devine, Bates and Green - happy to put my hand up. Pretty special to be in the semi-final, job's not done yet
Australia book themselves a semi-final berth. The margin of victory (4 runs) is a little deceptive, Australia seemed like the likely winners for most part. Martin's cameo adds a little more respectability to New Zealand's eventual total but the sluggish start left them too much to do, and none of their big match players really came to the party. Georgia Wareham was brilliant, she bowled the game's defining spell, picking up the wickets of Bates, Devine and Green to snuff the fight out of the chase.
full on off, drilled past mid-off for four but that's little consolation for New Zealand who will be knocked out
and they won't have it, full toss on middle, swung away to deep midwicket for just two
full toss on middle, only manages to get away to long-on for one. New Zealand need 3 sixes
full and outside off, swung away to deep square leg for just one
Damien: "Wow proud of ya girls. I am enjoying this game at Junction Oval with a beer and cricinfo in my hands. Bring on the Semi finals :)"
full on middle and leg, she picks out fine-leg on the bounce for just one
Gardner has 19 to play with. Perry is off the field so Australia don't have a choice. 11 came from her first
it's full and angled in, she skips down and can't work it leg side, the deflection off the pad gives her one, and New Zealand need an unlikely 20 from the last over
New Zealand need a six here
length on top of off, skids on as she chops it away towards point for one
length outside off, Martin makes room and goes through the off side, pierces the cover field, beats mid-off to her left for four
length outside off, she falls over after shuffling to get this over short fine, gets only a thick inside edge, too square and only one
Megan Schutt has her third! It was another slower one on a length, she was through the swing to the leg side too early, missed it completely to be bowled comprehensively
length on off and middle, she shuffles and picks this up to deep backward square leg's right for a couple
full on middle and leg, whipped away towards deep midwicket and because it wasn't hit too hard they are able to turn for the second. Umpires check for the run-out at the striker's end but Peterson made it back easily
fired in on middle and leg again and this one's picked up with the angle withy great power, one bounce and into the deep square leg fence
length on middle and leg, swung away towards deep square leg for a couple
missed stumping, tough chance, it was fired down seeing the batter advance, Healy was blinded as she got a glove on it but couldn't collect cleanly
length outside off, swatted away into the leg side, straight to deep midwicket on the bounce
full on off, opens the face and pushes it to point
full on middle, pushed to long-on for one, avoids the hattrick, but can New Zealand avoid defeat from this position? Looking unlikely
hattrick ball
