waks across and scoops it away to long leg, seems to be her escape shot but this is nothing short of a comprehensive victory from England
SA Women vs ENG Women, 2nd Semi-Final at Dhaka, Apr 04 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
ENG Women won by 9 wickets (with 19 balls remaining)
5.10 pm That's all we have for you. Do join us when the final comes along on April 6th, but for now this is Alagappan Muthu signing off
"Really exciting, played exceptionally well the kind of performance we put up in the semi-final," says Charlotte, "A few new players have come in and put their hands up in crunch times." It's not at all [revenge]" Says the women have played excellent cricket against Australia in the recent past and they're looking forward to the final
"Anya just bowled exceptionally well and we had a few unlucky run-out but the wya the girls have played has been amazing,"Mignon du Preez says. "We've proved ourselves over and over and I'm very proud of the character shown by the girls." Says hi to the family and friends back home and thanks them for their support through the tournament
Anya Shrubsole is the Player of the Match "I rely on the ball swinging a little bit, Its a very good team performance in the field. Five run-outs and the way Sarah and Heather and Charlotte batted, it was great. Yeah, it swung in Sylhet as well and it's been coming out alright. I've been able to swing it nicely. It's not extra pressure [without Katherine Brunt] it's credit to the entire squad that we've done so well and now we're just looking forward to the final"
Varun(Indian): "@Justin England women currently hold the Ashes."
5.00pm With a target of 102, there needed to be some early wickets but Charlotte Edwards, the England captain, and Sarah Taylor put on 67 for the first wicket. That start proved more than handy as England cantered to victory with nine wickets. Sune Luus, the 18-year old legspinner, picked up the lone wicket and was very impressive with the flight and turn she got. Shabnim Ismail was sharp, but Taylor played through the innings and took her side home. South Africa are in a huddle beside the boundary, this is the first time they made a semi-finals and they came in with only one loss before this. It's been a brilliant performance from them, but they just didn't measure up today
nice timing from Taylor, but her drive can't beat cover
Justin (Aussie): "@Tom - They play the Aussies next!!!!!"
fullish and outside off, bunted back to the bowler
this one is outside off and Knight taps it behind point. Scores level
short delivery outside off, she's forward and directs it down to long leg
Zervin: "So, an Australia-England final for the women. Can it be labelled "The Sashes"??"
fullish and outside off, driven solidly into the covers
almost a yorker outside off and she gets a thick outside edge to the third man boundary. Kapp and the captain du Preez have big, wry smiles on their faces
opens the face and gets it past the reach of the keeper. Lovely glide to third man and England now only need seven to win
takes stance way outside leg and the bowler takes note of it. Bowls an offcutter outside off but Taylor walks at it and drives to cover
yorker on middle, dug out to deep square leg
full on off stump, she's forward and drives to long-on
Tom. Bale: "After the men's struggles this winter, it's brilliant to see the women lifting the spirits of England fans again. Great job ladies!!"
walks forward and drives to long-off
little shimmy down the wicket again and takes the back of a length ball on top of the bounce to deep cover
skips down the track and this length ball is pushed back to the bowler. Ismail keeps the batter on her toes with a dead-eye throw at the stumps but Taylor had reached her ground just in time
fullish and outside off, punched through the covers
fullish and on off stump, pushed down the ground to long-off
walks across and scoops it calmly over the keeper. There is protection in the deep though. Kept her eyes on the ball as she got under it as it was full and outside off
That over certainly wasn't a canter...
drags this down and the turn leaves Knight in a spot of bother as she was already making room. Had to reach for it and because of that it goes up in the air. Drops short of point though
continues lobbing the ball up, but this slides down leg and she sweeps fine to the long leg boundary
rip off the deck! Ample flight outside off and it dips quickly to beat the drive through the covers
