Australia was confirmed as the team to take on the Rest of the World XI in the ICC Super Series Test after beating New Zealand in the two Test home series in November 2004.
Australia's lead in the ICC Test Championship is such that even if it loses all of its matches before the 1 April 2005 cut-off date it will still be top of the official table at this time.
Cricket Australia Chief Executive James Sutherland said that the confirmation of Australia's top position was a major boost to the organisation's plans for the event.
