Bangladesh to set up academy

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced it will be setting up a cricket academy to promote the development of the game in the country

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced it will be setting up a cricket academy to promote the development of the game in the country. Mahbub Anam, the BCB's secretary, told reporters the news after a committee meeting in Dhaka.
That was just one of the decisions made by the committee. Others included:-
  • An extension of central contracts for six national players - Shahriar Nafees, Syed Rasel, Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Mushfiqur Rahim and Alok Kapali - until September 30.
  • Confirmation of a bid to host the World Cup in 2011, the Champions Trophy in 2012 and the Under-19 World Cup in 2014.
  • Confirmation that a domestic Twenty20 tournament will almost certainly be introduced in 2006-07
  • News that the post of manager for the national team will be advertised.
  • News that the post of trainer for the national team would be filled within a fortnight as Stuart Karpinnen is contracted to leave at the end of May.
