Each member of the victorious Bangladesh women's squad has been awarded 50,000 taka (US$ 735) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for winning the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) women's tournament in July. All players and officials who travelled to Malaysia for the tournament will receive the cash rewards.
Bangladesh won all their five matches, including back-to-back 10-wicket wins against UAE and Singapore. "It's a great achievement for the women's team," Major General Sina Ibn Jamali, the BCB president, told the ACC website. "I want to thank everyone related with this success. I wish them further success in the future. Our main target is the development of cricket and also to work maintaining transparency."
The Nepal Cricket Association had also given cash prizes to the Nepal squad after the team reached the final of the ACC tournament.
Buoyed by their success, Bangladesh now plan to take part in the Asia Cup next year, annually played by India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
