Saurav Ganguly will lead Bengal in their first Ranji Trophy Super League encounter against Delhi at the Eden Gardens from February 16 to 19. The other members of the sqaud are: Utpal Chatterjee, Devang Gandhi, Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, Syed Saba Karim, Srikant Kalyani, Wrichik Mazumdar, Nikhil Haldipur, Rohan Gavaskar, Sourashis Lahiri, Nilambar Saha, Kunal Bajpayee, Alokendu Lahiri and Abdul Masood.
Bengal's pool has been termed as the `Group of Death' with the other two teams being former Ranji Trophy champions, Karnataka and Mumbai. The only advantage that Bengal enjoy in this tough group is that they will have to play all their matches at home.
Meanwhile, Ganguly said on Monday that he had informed the Cricket Association of Bengal of his availibility. "The doctor has advised me to take rest for 15 days. I think I will recover from my injury by the time the match will start. So I have decided that I will play. In case I do not recover sufficiently I can always opt out at the last moment."
The only new face in the squad is off-spinner Kunal Bajpayee. This young 20-year old has taken 25 wickets in the last six first division matches in the Calcutta league.
