In spite of Manjarul Islam Rana's heroic performance Kalabagan Krira Chakra (KCC) had to accept another defeat at the hands of Bangladesh Biman in a one-sided affair held at BNS ground today. Biman reached the 194-run target quite easily loosing only 5 of their top-order batsmen.

In fact KCC couldn't make any trouble in Biman front line-up except they got the early wicket of Javed Omar Belim who made only 9. Aftab Ahmed and Faruk Ahmed batted judiciously in the second wicket and formed a 69-run partnership. They cashed in on the sloppy KCC fielding to score runs easily. Ex-national skipper Faruk made a mark with 40 that embraced 6 fours and Aftab carried off well with 59. He bashed 6 boundaries and 2 huge sixes and to do that he faced 79 deliveries. Manjarul Islam Rana, the left-arm off spinner, removed them both, but it was too late to do any sort of miracles. Hasanuzzaman (26), Aminul Islam (18) and Khaled Mahmud (14) did the rest to reach the target in the 41st over with 5 wickets still in hand.

It was a bright sunny morning at BNS when the luck spoke for Faruk Ahmed as he won the toss and elected to field first. Biman's left-arm seam bowler Anisur Rahman, who was out of the scenario for five years after his impressive debut for national squad, blew the KCC batting-up apart. He eliminated Rafiqul, Mosaddek Hossain and Rajin Saleh in quick succession to make KCC wobble with 26 for 3. At 65 they lost their last recognized batsman.

Manjarul Islam Rana, who has little fame as a batsman, fought virtually alone at one end only to watch his mates departing wretchedly. Manjarul whacked 6 hits to the fence and struck once through the aerial route as he top scored with 71 from 82 balls. Bikash Ranjan Das, the left-arm medium pacer, made a good mark with his bat too when he scored 26, the second highest total for KCC. KCC were bundled out for a mare 193 in 48.5 over.

Anisur Rahman and Manjarul Islam were jointly declared as the men-of-the-match for their vital contribution in the match.
